I'm with you man. There are lots of things I enjoy very much in this world. Some are more important than others. No matter how much I enjoy a video game it's never going to be the most important thing in my life.

But as this video illustrates, and the other video proves, is that people want to feel like they belong to something "important" and brands prey on that human need.

What about fans who criticise their own brand because they like it, and want to see it succeed further? Would that be classed as a fanboy?

I'm a Nintendo fan, but I do get the occasional rant going on here about some things that Nintendo do that really irk me. I wish I could have some say into what I'd like to see put into their console, because I have a few ideas that none of the console makers have thought of...

The difference is though, that you don't bash other bears you don't like, you don't bash other movies, or books, other bands (except Bieber; that's some legit criticism), or different kind of food. Right? Of course people have their favorite system, but do we really need to bash the other ones? It's plain stupid.

I don't think anyone has issues in the slightest with fans tho, but I know the sort of posters you are talking about OP, the worst ones by far are people who say are fans of the 360 but don't know anything about their own consoles strengths or weakness's and when asked why they like their system of choice they go off and list their reasons why the ps3 and the wii/u sucks and fails and ylod lol.... etc.

Same happens even when it comes to companies, I have a mate who loves EA but I've never gotten an answer to what they've done well recently without a 10 min rant about how activision are all hell spawned demons. If you like a company / Brand have reasons to, just because one company is burning infants doesn't make the company who are burning old men better... they're both bad :D
