I'm with you man. There are lots of things I enjoy very much in this world. Some are more important than others. No matter how much I enjoy a video game it's never going to be the most important thing in my life.

But as this video illustrates, and the other video proves, is that people want to feel like they belong to something "important" and brands prey on that human need.
