I would count sexualized women in videogames as a part of this feminist thread

Super Mario Galaxy

I think Mario games are considered a casual/platformer designed to be enjoyed by gamers and non-gamers alike.

I think COD is the same tho. What I mean is, if we're going to do that for Galaxy because it isn't rated M, then the same has to apply to a game that follows the logic in your post but is rated M.

COD is all about reflex. The person who knows the map and has the quickest reflexes wins. Granted, it is a pick up and play title. Its not exactly Battlefield or Counterstrike, but it has its merits. I wouldn't put mario on that level, I was playing mario at the age of four. I dont think I would've mastered COD or even been allowed near that game at that age. COD is closer in the vein of what Duke Nukem and Doom started than to ever be compared to mario. Mario is a fun loving game that my mother saw fit to buy me when I was really young. If she cought me with COD, GTA or Duke Nukem lol.....lets just say fear for my soul.

Which means it can fit with hardcore/mature.

I wouldn't consider it a core title by the demanding standards that most of us play today, but if you're a hardcore mario fan, then definitely by all means call it what you will. I could play mario all day, but again, it wouldn't consider it that..no. Its not mature by any stretch of the imagination.

Mario has a good learning curve, I can admit, but the further levels get more challenging, and even harder as luigi. It takes skill to play as well and is quite difficult to me personally.

Also, kids play COD, believe it or not. :(

I wasnt referring it to Mature, but hardcore.

Its a casual and gamer draw, but no I wouldn't consider it amongst hardcore games. As a lifelong gamer, it would consider it nostalgia by now. I can't get mario out of my system.

Why not, underlined is what I want to know, why not? What makes a game hardcore, that it requires skill?
