Forums - General Discussion - Disney Buys LucasFilm; New Star Wars Movie! ........ What? UPDATE: Lucas' Reign of Terror is OVER!

Huge news... I'm scared.

But I have a great plot idea. After Yoda's death, he goes to heaven (aka the land of Disney) and meets Mickey and friends. They all welcome him and throw a big party, and then Yoda gets a makeover to become a cute animated pal like Mickey's friends and then they drink tea together and live happily ever after. Oh and jar jar binks is there too.  (The scary part is this feels somewhat believable given the recent movies).

EDIT: Lucas' reign of terror is OVER?! Oh my god YES!

"Lucas said in a statement, 'It's now time for me to pass `Star Wars' on to a new generation of filmmakers.'"

That's huge news. But I'm not exactly excited since modern Disney and the last Star Wars trilogy both suck.

HOLY SHITBALLS!

This is literally the BEST NEWS EVER!! I've been hoping for a NEW Star Wars trilogy since 2006!!

:')

He probably didn't feel like hearing any more backlash from fans of the series. It might take him some time to get over the Jar Jar anger. I suppose this deal doesn't include LucasArts also just the film.  Disney will probably have the hero or hero's girl "die" then by the end of the movie everything is hunky dory.

Indeed, he mentioned a few years ago that he was so frustrated with fan backlash (and hey, fans were frustrated with his work on the series too) that he would never make a star wars movie again. I had assumed, until now, that meant there would never be one again.

But now there is A New Hope for the series!

@plezbian, yeah, they'll make shitloads out of this. The merchandise alone will make more than $4bn

George Lucas was too sensitive for the film industry anyway...I'm glad he no longer has the reins of the greatest franchise of all time

:D

Hopefully Indy finds a good home.

I wonder if it includes Lucas films vast videogame library/game studios. Seems Disney is going to become a major player in that space.

What a boss this man was.

I really like Nintendo for one reason... it reminds me of Disney - what an empire.

Disney bought Marvel a few years back. Turned out pretty well for them, I hear.
