I always thought this is a 3d model but it seems it just looks like one. Retro really thought about every little detail because RARE did the same back on the SNES.

As far as I know in terms of videogames 2.5d is usually a three dimensional video game restricted to two dimensional movement/gameplay etc
Otherwise Donkey Kong Country for the SNES would also be 2.5d right?.
wow...so DK is 2D but the world is 3D. i kinda figured both would be the same
Really cool technique, nobody can tell the difference and probably saves some memory.
But build that 3D Kong, Retro. First, Wii U can handle it. Second, you'll need it for DK 64 2!
