Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Bayonetta 2 100% exclusive for the Wii U!!

Wonderful.

Bayonetta was to action games as Vanquish was to shooter games htis generation, which is to say the best in its genre on a mechanical level.

I look forward to playing it.

When's it released?

They haven't announced any specific release date, it will most likely be later 2013

Point is that you said 3.62 million which is 1.42 million more than is possible.    And I get that it didn't sell as well as the PS RE titles.  I never said otherwide.  I merely stated it sold well given the size of the console install base.  Which it did.   And given your insistance that 1.6 million is such a poor figure, how do you account for it only selling 2.2 million on the even better selling PS2 as compared ot the ealrier PS RE titles?

You're hitting yourself with your own debate logic.

As for how well Bayonetta 2 does on Wii U?  Depends on when it comes, how it's marketed, what's the genre competition.   You know, things that matter far more so than the fact the first title appeared on a different console makers console.

I do not see whether Capcom says these are shipped or sold at retail so that I do not know.

You are not getting what I am saying. Over 1mill in sales is good for most games to break profit. Yet, a game that is capable of selling 10million does not WANT to sell 1million. Understand? 1.6million is a huge step DOWN from 4million. This is obviously showing something was wrong with the game or it's release to the developer. The point of making a sequel to an existing IP is that you want to tap into that fanbase that has dedicated themselves to it, as well as expand it. Selling less than half of what a previous game sold is NOT doing that. PS2 sales of the game were just as bad, but I could argue if it had just stayed exclusive to PS in the first place they would have sold the appropriate amount they did with half the effort.

People on the net must be bipolar, I remember Bayonetta has been slammed by people online for ages and PG seem to be the most hated studio despite being one of the best. This is evident with the whole MGR saga, now Bayonetta 2 is a U exclusive and the online goers are doing their nut.

i understand people who loved bayonetta to react at least not amused (but didn't look in other threads, no clue how they are raging), as much as nintendo fans would react with the next starfox or so for 360/ps3. yes this won't happen but in theory, they would have to buy a new console now just to play a game they loved and which could run on a console they already own (just in theory, it probably couldn't run on wii then). i bet some of the people here in this thread who laugh about those people now would react the same just vice versa

I smell flop sales wise.

Probably sega deluxe something port in a year on next gen ps/xbox.

Yeah, I also think the game will flop.   People who already have batonetta 1 wont buy a new console just for the sequel, so sales will depend just in nintendo fans who only (in most cases) like mario, pokemon, and any other nintendo franchise.

If that happens, Sega will bring the game to the PS360.

And then it will flop harder as PS3 fans have the best of the genre and 360 fans don't care.

It means nothing.   The PS3 users will still have the best action adventure/ hack and slash series at their disposal (God of War), while 360 users wont care because they dont give a damn about that genre.

This.

I don't like Bayonetta being exclusive only because I need now to buy a WiiU, but yeah the game wasn't well received at least on the net.

It's shipped.   Unless they report figures from an external 3rd party tracking firm, it's always shipped.  SEC rules.

And I think we're done here.   You're arguing at me like I said the sales were fantastic and still ignoring the important fact that it was limited by the size of the install base which gave a very high install to ownership ratio.   I'm not trying to tell you that shareholders are pleased with a high install to ownership ratio, merely that as a quantifiable unit of measure, it was very good.  If you can't grasp that, move on.

We figured you would be pleased, Khuutra.  :)

BTW, I must mention once again that I'm loving the meltdowns. :D

well I guess this is good news, I really didn't like Bayonetta so no skin off my bones, thought it was a tad bit overhyped when it came to that part of the year of hack'n'slash and focused too much on sexual innuendos...still got it(haven't beaten it yet) but chose to play Darksiders, Gow III, even Dante's inferno over it....

EDIT: Now if Vanquish 2 went only to the Wii U I would probably explode with anger!!
