Forums - Gaming Discussion - Most disappointing game you've ever owned?

The only actual chore trouble I had on OoT, outside figuring out the Water Temple, was figuring out all the locations of the golden skulltulas (I didn't have access to a guide or online faq back then). Some of the magic beans uses were badly thought off, like if you planted a magic bean before using bugs on specific holes, you would permanently lose a golden skulltula and lost the shot at the 100 mark for that playthrough. Took me forever to figure out which holes were the right ones.

But I see how people would miss a lot of things on OoT and get lost figuring some of the end game dungeons, mostly because there was little indications (outside the annoying Navi's HEY LISTEN tips) on what to do or what's needed to get. I know a couple of people who kept getting lost at the haunted wasteland because they didn't know that the Lens of Truth existed

@Stealth20K - Personally I have had no issue whatsoever with motion controls on both Zelda games, and I loved the controls on Skyward Sword (controlling the Beetle was one of the most fun things I ever seen on any Zelda game). I know a lot of people have issues with the controls on both games (that's the primary complain), but I enjoyed them.

I think this is the funniest thing...the Water Temple was easy!  of all the dungeons in the game, I think that was the one I liked the most becuase, while it was challenging and required thought, the puzzle was well designed and intuitive and required no guess work.  Maybe I'm living in bizarro world or something, but of all the dungeons in the game, I think the water temple was easily the most rewarding because actually thinking about it made it pretty simple.  I do think it was a little tedious, though.  Having to go back and forth so many times to trigger the water was a pain, but as for the actual puzzle elements, it was easily the best designed in the game.

I stopped trying for the Gold Skulltullas halfway through.  I got them all as young link, but once I got to be adult link I just stopped caring.  the game just got frustrating the longer I played it, if for no other reason than I was disappointed at how poorly designed some parts were.

when gold silver came out those immediately became the best

it wasnt that long

I'll chime in with the game Brütal Legend. I have never been duped so badly by a demo before. I really enjoyed the demo, but the game on the other hand was just awful.

PSN - Thwip

Not sure which was the most disappointing for me but these three stick out.

Final Fantasy VI - I really liked the game, but I was equally sad. I loved FF IV so much that I have played it at least 10 times through. FF VI was almost the flipside of IV in terms of story. Instead of one main protagonist with great side characters and a more grounded fantasy, VI followed multiple protagonists and started the push for FF games to move into very steampunk. Though VI is a great game I still blame it for moving FF away from the FFIV formula.

ActRaiser 2 - Removed the half of ActRaiser that made the first one great.

Halo 3 - My first Halo game. Also the first FPS I had played since Goldeneye on the N64. Though the game wasn't bad, it didn't live up to the hype bandwagon that I had jumped onto before getting the game. I guess a story is never great if you jump onboard during the 3rd act.

Killzone 2...

I just cant enjoy it even tough its a good concept:
LBP1/2. After a make a game or a level i cant enjoy playing them beacuase i already known beforehand what is in the level. I depend a lot on the comunnity levels and that's something i personally dont really like. Also too slow for my taste.

Forgetting what was important:
Dragon age 2 and Skyrim. I dont think i really should explain them.

There are other dissapointments but i found this the most remarkable ones that i have played this gen.

During the JRPG golden era I bought a game called Hoshigami: Ruining Blue Earth, man o man...

The most disappointing game I've ever played? Probably Sonic 3D Blast for the Sega Genesis for two reasons:

1. Compared to the excellence of Sonic 1,2,3, & Knuckles, it was just an all around mediocre game.
2. It was a sign of things to come. 3D Sonic has completely taken over (it's not that I don't like 3D Sonic games... but there needs to be a balance). The best we can get are portable games from Dimps (which are way too focused on speed and not the actual platforming) and download titles (which show hints of greatness... but are still priority #2 for Sonic Team).
