Highest Grossing move of 2012?

The Dark Knight Rises 65 55.56%

The Avengers 5 4.27%

The Hobbit 38 32.48%

The Amazing Spiderman 6 5.13%

Hunger Games 0 0%

Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 2 1.71%

Other 1 0.85%

Total:117

I personally believe that the Dark Knight Rises will take the crown as its one of the most anticipated movies of all time. Movies like the Hobbit and Avengers will surely become blockbusters but I don't think they can match up with the Dark Knight Rises. What movie do you think will take the box office crown?

Dark Knight Rises

The Avengers

The Hobbit

Hunger Games

The Amazing Spiderman

Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2

I think your point is actually very valid given the fact that the Return of the King made over 1.1 billion 9 years ago. If the Hobbit gets the same type of hype and critical reciption which is almost bound to happen it can reach the 2 billion mark. However the Dark Knight Rises will have marketing unseen in this industry ever before. And really this movie is expected a whole lot from and the fame/critical reciption/money the batman series reached after the Dark Knight released has been phenominal.

Easy victory for the the dark knight rises

I don't know, I'll go with a hope and say The Dark Knight Rises.

Dark Knight Rises.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Well, apparently that twilight crap has a huge fanbase, who knows. I really hope either Batman or The Hobbit gets teh crown.

The Expendables 2!!!

The interesting thing about the Dark Knight is that it made it over the 1 billion mark by making more domestically than it did over seas which is very unusually for a box office of that caliber especially when you consider it was a sequel to Batman Begins and sequels usually fair very well over seas. Most movies that a huge successes manage their success by taking in 60-70% of their total box office over seas. If The Dark Knight Rises makes in the neighborhood of around 700 million over seas, and another 500 million domestically we are looking at around 1.3 billion, but it all depends on the overseas numbers because it will have a hard time reaching the 550 domestically that the dark knight posted. Now the hobbit won't fair as well in North America, but because of the books and the previous Lord Of The Rings series adaptation it will have a much easier job finding success overseas. It will be very close between these two movies. Too close to call, but I'm going to take a wild guess and say The Hobbit because it will have greater international appeal and should reach 1.2 billion, and the batman flick coming in second for the year but also crossing the billion mark.

I also want to add that I'm not a fan of 3d movies, but the hobbit should be amazing in 3d because it is filming at a frame rate that is twice as high as any other movie ever filmed meaning it will look increadicble smooth and clear, even in 3d.

I was walking down along the street and I heard this voice saying, "Good evening, Mr. Dowd." Well, I turned around and here was this big six-foot rabbit leaning up against a lamp-post. Well, I thought nothing of that because when you've lived in a town as long as I've lived in this one, you get used to the fact that everybody knows your name.
