13 non-move titles: MAG, Heavy Rain, MLB: The Show, God of War 3, Mod Nation Racers, White Knight Chronicles, Buzz, TV SuperStars, Singstar, and Gran Turismo 5. Actually it's 10. I didn't read the games and there were 5 Move titles (Sports Champions, The Shoot, Kung Fu Rider, Start The Party, and Time Crisis). Of those 10, I only think 3 are worthy of attention. However reading the games, many of the 2010 titles were released in Japan in 2010, and in North America in 2011, so 2011 is actually 11 games, not 9. Either way, 5 for 2012 <<< 2009-2011 PS3 lifespan. Indication that PS3 is over the hill, and my original point. Why is anyone shocked at the amount of first party games for 2012? |
thats the thing... the five you are counting is excluding games such as mlb that get yearly releases, other possible releases slated for next year and move games... thats why its an onaccurate assumption, its just too early to make claimsa bout sony's 2012 lineup this early

" A list for all of those asking about games on PS3 and X360. Both consoles offer amazing exclusive games (includes upcoming games). Do remember that this list are of games that are actually quite well known and recieved generally favourable reviews (there might be a few flaws here and there [Crackdown 2 and Socom 4 comes to mind]. PS3(42): +Large Scale Demo's (1)
+Console Exclusives(14)
Can't blame him, can you? He even went so far to post a list of titles on wikipedia nobody has even heard of.
|
First of all, why must you try to keep derailing this subject and making this into a PS3 vs. 360 thing? Who cares about PS3 vs. 360, it's a stupid debate. I sent you a PM with a list of over 100 360 exclusives, and I can't beleive you forgot all the great JRPG exclusives on 360. I'll name some big ones to populate your list.....even added some to PS3
I cut out SOCOM Confrontation, lets not start to include crap. I left out lots of crap like Genji and Ninty Nine Knights.
In total, wikipedia says the 360 has 129 exclusive games, PLUS 79 console exclusives (which I consider exclusive since I have run Linex and would have to buy a Microsoft platform to play those games). PS3 has 109 exclusives (20 less), PLUS 90 console exclusives (11 more), so overall 9 less (20 by your definition).
Of the games worth playing PS3 has a total of 42 exclusives + 3 Moves games according to your definition of an exclusive, and 360 has 36 + 8 Kinect games. However if we actually look at what 360 has to offer over PS3, there are 12 more console exclusives on the 360, but 5 more collections/remakes on PS3.
Total 53 exclusive titles on PS3, 59 on 360.
Is this a big difference, and does anyone care? Only you.
"Its twice the amount of 360's exclusive THIS year and 4x the amount of 360's exclusives next year judging from now (with the list provided above). Ouch?"
Chech your math, 5 is not great then 5 (360 exclusives of 2011) which wa a weak year for Microsoft. Also 5 is not greater then 7 (exclusives 360 has for 2012)

This thread was created to look at what Sony's dev studios were working on currently. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that the fanboys derailed the conversation about few posts into it.
Fucking sad.

To be fair, I did not want to talk about 360, and only the thread author keeps returning my comments with comparisions between 360 and PS3. I replied, which is sad, I agree, and so is everyone who keeps fucken posting about PS3 vs. 360 comparisions. Always happens on PS3 threads (ned to compensate?)
I mean who gives a sit anymore?

Well as you point out earlier in the thread, Sony doesn't have that many first party exclusives coming in 2012. Which would leave the door open for Sony to buyout Agent's ownership, but keep Rockstar on board. It would be great to see Rockstar and Sony Santa Monica working on a game together. One thing to look at is Final Fantasy XIII sold better on PS3 in North America. Of course the 360 version did sell over a million, XIII-2 is no where to be found on the pre-order charts, but the PS3 version can be found (in the USA pre-orders chart, number 8). Which would mean the 360 isn't really building much of a base. This would show Square that spending the resources on making this work for 360 wouldn't be worth it. If I was calling the shots at Sony, I would be all over buying out the titles. Gaining complete ownership of them, but keeping the devs on it. But I would add Sony Japan Studios to Versus XIII and Sony Santa Monica to Agent. |
If MS doesn't ave enough $$$ to keep DLC exclusive, Sony definatly does not have enough $$$ to keep Agent exclusives. Third party exclusives make no sense this late into the console gen.
Good point about Final Fantasy, but FFXIII sold close to 2 million WW on 360, which ins't a number to ignore (it's something like 30% of total sales). Yes if FFXIII went exclusive to PS3, sales on PS3 would be higher, but Japan is FFXIII's biggest region and it was console exclusive there. Still sold much less then Final Fantasy X (sold less then Final Fantasy X-2).
Heck I would even argue the gain in PS3 sales if the franchise remained exclusive would have been small. If you compare FFXIII (PS3) sales to FFX-2 you will see it sold about 15% weaker in Japan, and 25% weaker outside of Japan. So I would argue that had it remained exclusive, sales would have been 10-20% higher, which is max 400k. FFXIII sold 1.75 million on 360, thats 1.3-1.4 million units more.
Also with WRPG's starting to become more popular, I think it's well withing Square Enix's interests to make the game available to 360 owners and appealing to American buyers in general.
I wouldn't change too muc if I were Sony, they own a lot of studios. I wish they invested in more sci-fi games and expanded Polyphony Digital (too long between GT iterations, Turn 10 is over double the size now).

there is nothing better then a console with a bunch of exclusives to distract you from 3rd party games.

Either way, next year shows the PS3 will have a relatively large number of notable, fresh, core games releasing. 2011 was mainly sequels & 2010 was composed of mainly Move games. |
I....don't know if I can agree with that. Last Guardian, Sly Cooper, and Twisted Metal are PS2 sequals, and Starhawk is a PS3 sequal. The Last of Us is the only "new" IP, but it's nice to see so many PS2 reboots.

Good argument to include MLB: The Show, but still 5 games now. It's likely all manufacterers will announce more games, and Sony also has a few PSV/PS3 titles. I agree with you, but in regards to the OP being amazed at 5 games, my comment is still valid. 5 games (4 sequals) is nothing to be amazed about, PS3 had better years (years where we knew about more games annouced at the start of the year).

But what does all the thing you said, have to do with this thread? Did the OP mention anything about 2012? ( I am assuming you meant 2012 because you keep mentioning 2011 a typo? ). He is talking about how awesome the line up of PS3 is and how their first party has been delivering awesome games to the table for 4 years and counting. He is talking about whole PS3 line up from the past and the future and that's we should have been discussing not the 2012 line up blah blah blah and how Sony is announcing a game far too early. That's why I called you from derailing the thread and I honestly suggest that you read the OP again because you are missing the whole point of this thread.
Again that's not the case anymore. Can you give me more not 1 or 2 but more examples aside from your 5 examples? They have been announcing games and then release it within a year or so. You want me to bring more examples? ok. Last E3 2011 they announced Deadmund's quest and it was released by Nov.That's 5 mos. Resistance 3 was announced at last years Gamesom and was release by sept 2011. =1 year 1 mo. Move fitness was announced at this year's gamescom and was released this Nov 2011. =3 mos. Eyepet & friends was announced at april 2011 and was released by Nov 2011. =7 mos. Everybody dance/ dance star party was announced last E3 2011 and was released by oct 2011. =4 mos. Carnival Island was announced at last E3 2011 and was released by Nov 2011. =5 mos. Infamous: festival of blood was announced at last E3 2011 and was released by Oct 2011. =4 mos. Again you shouldn't use HR, GT5, Last Guardian and KZ 2 as an indicator because those are excemptions and again you should look on what's happening right now and not what is happening on the past. I really don't want to say this again but you should stop living on the past. |
Those games you mentioned, all small volume Move games, or PSN games. Resistance is the only example of a game which was announced relativly early compared to release. Sony still holds that delayed reputation, with Last Guardian now at 3 years release after announcement. Last Guardian is right now.
I think for Sony, 2 years is the common annouce to release for most of it's franchises. Some games with bi-annually iterations get announced a single year before release (Uncharted, Resistance, etc), but many get delayed, sometimes drastically (LBP2, GT5, Killzone 2, etc).
As for the OP directly, I don't disagree about Sony's first party content over the last 4 years. That's why I didn't comment on that, it's a lot. I commented on the future, which looks dry. OP didn't mention 2012, I did, and my reasoning was to make the upcoming lineup look more dry. If Sony often announces games2 years or longer before releasing their games, then we should expect less then 5 games for 2012, which is really....not much. PS3 is at the end of its life now, that's my pont.

Starhawk, Twisted Metal, Last of us, Sly 4, Last Guardian ( big if ), Motorstrom RC, MLB 2012, Dust 214. What's stopping Sony from announcing few more games next year and release on the same year as well? Look at my previous qoute to you. Anyway. How do you see the whole 2012 line-up of PS3 (exclusive) including 3rd parties? |
4 First Party exclusives. Dust 514 is not first party, MLB 2012 has not been announced, and this is the first time I heard of Motorstorm RC.
The OP and I were incorrect about 4 First Party games. Jay pointed out Sly, and now you pointed out Motorstorm. That makes 6, which is significantly more then 4.
Still think it's a bit dry, but it's not as bad as it was before E3 2011 (when there were only 2 games announced for 2012).
