I remember, that by chance, I found this site by searching "sales of games" and VGChartz cropped up. I wanted to contribute and made my first post "Metroid: Other M, followed by Super Mario Galaxy 2" in a thread about the upcoming Nintendo games of the time. After that post I didn't return for a while until after I returned a 2nd time a certain killeryoshis convinced to stay here. Later on morenoingrato gave me an opportunity to host his thread about the "Biggest Nintendo Gamers" after he managed to rig the last one in his favour. In the end I intergrated into VGChartz and posted tonnes of things (I managed 23 posts in one day somehow), these days I'm not as frequent poster and only come here when I really want to.

You gotta be kidding me. -_-

Look who's talking about rigging contests in his favour.

Anyway, I googled "videogames sales".

Let's call it quits.

Around the Network

heard of the site a few years ago but never signed up until a few months ago. Came for the Chartz.

I heard about the site in another forum when people were discussing which console was selling better. At first I didn't pay attention but the same discussion use to happen every now and then so I came here to see know more about it. That was in 2007.

Then, in 2008, ioi made some changes and only registered users could see the top 100 software chart, so soon after I joined.

But I've mostly been a registered lurker until this year, when I've started to post regularly.

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

(2007) i just wanted to know more about how the consoles were selling, i stopped by every few months just to see.

in 2008 i started looking in the forums to see what you lot were talking about, and it was then that i noticed the flaming, fanboy bashing, and trolling that plagued this site and told myself there's no point in becoming a member cause of the one sided blindness of the users at the time.

in 2010 i had gotten fed up with it and posted like 30 or 40 times the first day. now i find little interest in the site apart from what i started lurking for.

i didn't come here for the console wars, but there i was right in the middle of the most childish debates and comments i'd ever seen since grade school. if it weren't for CGI i would have been PB'd along time ago, but somehow i managed.

and as for the future? who knows but i hope i'm not in the crossfire of another fanboy motivated war cause this yr. has been music to my ears.

NexGenWars!

This, I found NexGenWars, and then after that quickly found VGChartz.  I wish I had made an account when I first started lurking here because I would be an '06.  I signed up a year later in late '07, and even though I don't post often and I'm not that well known I've been visiting the site everyday since then.

Around the Network

was looking for sales of the gamecube back in 2005. This site popped up on google search after like....10 pages. lurked until 2007.

A friend of mine that was a total ignoramus when it comes to games (only played two games in his life, a dozen soccer games and DMC3) challenged me with a question after hearing on the news how GTA IV was breaking sales records. "Which Nintendo game can ever sell as much as GTA IV?". Then, I didn't know that nintendo games were sales beasts, I just knew that I generally preferred their games to that of the competition. I googled it, immediately became interested in checking weekly sales on this site, then the 2 things that hooked me where "Caption This" and the forums. I had never been a part of any kind of forums before.

EDIT: I joined in 2008. Average one post a day. And I'm here often. I just wonder how guys with over 10 posts a day that don't work on the site spend their time and when they get to play any games.....

NexGenWars!

Same... and I found ngw through a banner in someone's signature on Gamespot. I've been on some /bad/ forums.

I was looking for sales on certain video games and came across this site.

Now back in those days you had to make an account in order to get all of the numbers and that's why I joined.

NexGenWars for me too. I checked that site for a while and realised it was utter shit. Then I found VGC and lurked for a long time, like 1.5 years.
