I think someone used VGChartz as a source for sales in a Nintendo forum I used to visit, and at the time I was interested in the numbers so I joined in. it's funny because for 2 years checking the sales of games (more than hardware) was a religion, then I realized I didn't really need to care about it :P

think it was 2009 maybe late 2008, i first stumbled on the website. i was searching for ps3 sales on Google, the prediction game that was on here was the main reason for me make an account played it like once or twice and decided i didn't have clue what i was doing.

i then started using the website for my main source of information about gaming. forgot my account password and know longer had the old email address to get it reset. lurked for the rest of 2009 and part of 2010. wanted to post loads back then (i believe it was mostly fanboy stuff lol).

so i made another account and asked Torillian to lock my old account that i had done barely anything too and had a terrible username. i have posted a couple of hundred comments on this account so i have done some posting and although a lot is probably very bias, i have tried not let it be.

I think it was through an article on FFXIII sales through google after I returned home from living & working in japan, and reading a related forum on the topic, it was actuallly a reasonable discussion without any horrible negativity (this is my only game forum membership & before that I had only seen comments on N4G articles, which were generally awfully hateful...) Plus it had the (I thought, though i'm lazy at adding most) cool feature to link games to your profile & rate them, so I joined on a whim. It was something far out of the norm for the rest of my life & allowed me a place to actually discuss the gaming hobby (none of my friends play), as 'variety is the spice of life' & all that. So far its been a lot more relaxed than I expected a game community to be, quite nice.

Well, I saw how active this site was... then I signed up...
