Can Disney beat Universal's record 2015 domestic gross - $2.445 billion?

It will fall short of tha... 4 13.33%

Finding Dory, Doctor Stra... 20 66.67%

It's going to be very cl... 6 20.00%

Total:30

I bet DC wants to make a Justice League movie after looking at those figures. Too bad we won't see one 'til a couple of years from now. They have to establish their characters like Marvel did with Iron Man, Thor, Cap, etc, and not make another Green Latern fiasco. Also, they have to wait for a Batman reboot.

Hey Mirson :)

Yeah I think the next Batman reboot is gonna be tied into The Justic League & next years Superman Reboot might be the start of the Jsutice League galaxy.

Hey Darth :)

I'm not a fan of Superman, but I have hopes for it. Christopher Nolan is involved, and it has a solid cast (Morpheus is there). When they make a Justice League movie, I hope they ignore Aquaman. He sucks. I mean, who would want to see a movie about a guy who talks to fish?

Yeah, yeah, yeah. No inflation needed.

I wonder if THG has any chance left at reaching $400M.

Are you kidding it still will be in theaters for at least five more weeks it hasn't even hit dollar cinemas yet and its still in the top five and will be in the top ten for at least three more weeks.  Will be over $392 million after next weeks box office will make the remaining $8 million in the next four weeks.

If this were a world where we could base the whole next week on the 21% drop it had this weekend, then it would be easily possible but considering that the reason it probably dropped a little slower was due to there not being any NEW movie that was a direct threat to the family popcorn crowd, no offense to Dark Shadows. Battleship will likely strike a big blow to The Hunger Games. Same with Men in Black the following week. And Snow White and the Huntsmen giving a killing blow the week after (since I read an article saying that is the females most anticipated movie this summer.)

Battleship will not do good at the domestic box office already has tons of bad reviews since it been in released overseas for over a month already.

If bad reviews prevented a movie from doing well then all 3 Transformers movies would flop (which Battleship currently has better reviews than the last 2 Transformers movies). I'm hoping I'm wrong about Battleship but I have a bad feeling this will be the Transformers for 2012.

None of the Transformer movies where released a month overseas before they where released domestically.  Also all the Transformers where heavily frontloaded so unless Battleship can knock The Avengers from the top spot their is no change of it being the Transformers of 2012.  I think that most people will skip Battleship to see MIB 3 the following week or wait a bit longer to see even better movies down the line.

My point was never that it was going to be a massive hit or even compete with The Avengers. I think The Avengers is going to remain #1 until MIB3. That was in reference to it stealing the little thunder Hunger Games currently has.

The Hunger Games still has more then a little thunder left.  Its been in the top 5 for eight consecutive weeks and will stay in the top 10 for at least three more and stay in theaters for at least six more weeks proabably a lot longer then that The Artist is still in theaters even though its been out on Blu-Ray/DVD for months already.  Unless The Hunger Games gets pulled from all domestic theaters in the next two weeks it not making over $400 million is pretty much impossible.

So I was looking at ticket sales again & apparently TDK & Avatar sold pretty much near equal tickets...or Avatar only sold a few million more. Both are around 75 Million tickets sold in the US. The boxofficemojo calculations were wrong (according to very reputable posters on the boxoffice.com forums).

This would mean since Titanics enormous 120 Million US ticket sales the movie that is highest after it is in fact Star Wars Ep 1 : Phantom Menace with 86 Million tickets sold.

Will we ever get a movie that will sell more than Star Wars episode 1 in tickets in america? Since nothing has sold higher tickets than it since its release back in 1999.

Sorry it's just whenever something like Avengers blows up I have to somehow turn it around and remind people of who is boxoffice king... *weeps*
