If this were a world where we could base the whole next week on the 21% drop it had this weekend, then it would be easily possible but considering that the reason it probably dropped a little slower was due to there not being any NEW movie that was a direct threat to the family popcorn crowd, no offense to Dark Shadows. Battleship will likely strike a big blow to The Hunger Games. Same with Men in Black the following week. And Snow White and the Huntsmen giving a killing blow the week after (since I read an article saying that is the females most anticipated movie this summer.)

Battleship will not do good at the domestic box office already has tons of bad reviews since it been in released overseas for over a month already.

If bad reviews prevented a movie from doing well then all 3 Transformers movies would flop (which Battleship currently has better reviews than the last 2 Transformers movies). I'm hoping I'm wrong about Battleship but I have a bad feeling this will be the Transformers for 2012.

None of the Transformer movies where released a month overseas before they where released domestically. Also all the Transformers where heavily frontloaded so unless Battleship can knock The Avengers from the top spot their is no change of it being the Transformers of 2012. I think that most people will skip Battleship to see MIB 3 the following week or wait a bit longer to see even better movies down the line.
