Forums - Gaming Discussion - E3: Nintendo WINS!

To be fair there's no proof that it won't have any of those, it's just that's what we were expecting to have confirmed right out of the gate. I'll again draw the comparison of this E3 to Nintendo for E3 2009 for Microsoft. E3 09 was proof of concept for Natal/Kinect, E3 2010 was where they really showed the product as it would be and the real support it would get, and likely that's what we're setting up for next E3 from Nintendo, or perhaps even sooner if Nintendo's having any intermediate events (it's a damn shame that they never show up to TGS and always just phone it in to Gamescom, otherwise we could set a more definitely timeline for when we're gonna find out more about this)

Not a great example, DS would be better suited, DS 2003 revealed and the only major title even really "shown" was Mario Kart and it wasn't even a video just pictures.  Basically people were really confused by the concept, the PSP was also announced right beside it, PSP was something people could wrap their heads around, and as such people started to downplay DS and started to say how Sony was going to take over the handheld market.

Basically Kinect also wasn't on the show floor for people to try in 2009, while DS was when it was announced, basically people had chances to play it fully functioning, and write stories of their experiences unlike the closed demos for Kinect where only approved stories made it to press.

2 new gaming platforms were introduced.
The Vita and the Wii U.
Sony showed working playable demos for the Vita.
Nintendo showed footage of 360/PS3 games .

Not hard to decide who won....

Now that is definitely an unfair comparison to make, as the Vita is closer to launch and the Vita wasn't being introduced for the first time ever in the world, and we saw bits and pieces of many of those Vita games months before

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Nintendo really did win E3. The Wii U is stunning. All the 'haters' slagged off the Wii for it's online and graphics. Now Wii U has those things, has mass third party approval and innovates at the same time. Why are the 'haters' still hating?

Double standards a dime a dozen these days...

Indeed. Even with just tech demos Nintendo still made the front page of USA Today. And like I said, any discussion about Nintendo proves that their influence has become deep-rooted. But like I said, it's going to be awhile before gamers become mature and intelligent enough to admit that

it has online and graphics ?

it might have those in the powerpoint but we haven't seen much of those implemented yet....

IGN UK said Nintendo won E3 so they agree with you, I agree as well.

In all honesty I see similar reactions with WiiU and the original DS, essentially WiiU is like a DS in your living room, your TV is the top screen the screen in your hands is the bottom touch screen, and it seems to confuse the hell out of people that see it, unless you've got some imagination about out, and all you think up is the different possibilities. That was the same process DS went through, core Nintendo fans going wtf? Non Nintendo fans going Nintendo just screwed themselves, and people that look for new experiences in gaming seem to imagine all the neat things you could do with it (I personally fit into the last group, I've got similar friends, and we were pretty much running wild with ideas after the conference)

And the above reasons is what actually sold me on PS Vita as well... not the console doing anything really new, it's LBP on Vita doing some really cool things, and I MUST HAVE IT!

I'm in that last group too.  I am very excited for Wii U.

The Wii now has HD. Who will buy it? Most of the core Wii owners already own a PS3 or 360 which already have exclusives of their own. Nintendo needs to set its HD console apart from the competition or this will tank in their faces. Hate to have to inform you but there might be a possibility that the "haters" have thought this through and are just being realistic.

I keep wavering between Nintendo and Sony in terms of who won (Microsoft definitly lost). They were both mediocre, but I feel like Nintendo's "should" have been better since they were unvealing a new console, and it was just a dissapointing reveal. I hoped they had another surprise for the console besides just the screen on the controller. Sony unvealed the Vita, but there was nothing particularly exciting about that either. Had a few decent looking games, but not enough to warrant a $250 purchase. I guess I'd call it a draw

Damn, the quality of games lately has made me very cynical :/

Nintendo has the strongest brands in the video game market. And the Wii U has broad Third-Party-Support. It seems the multiplattformgames will feature the best graphics, alone for the fact the the games will run in 1080p natively with vsync and anti-aliasing. It is the first "real" HD-console that has enough power for Full-HD.

I will sell my Xbox360 these days and my PS3 and my Wii will go the same way a few month before Wii U is released. Wii U is really the console for all gamer.

You've always struck me as that type, and yeah there's a lot of people like us, but we're not the majority of gamers that go online to talk about it.  In all honesty I think there are more people that like fun new experiences than the groups that like the tired old formulas and cliches but the majority of this group also aren't "hardcore".
