Cool.
What would they look like for Japan? Europe?
Worldwide?

Impressive...
Now that the anvil (Xbox 360s) is in place we only have to wait just a bit longer for the hammer (Kinect) to really make an impact in sales.

From VGC, here you are:
Total Others | PS3 | 360 |
First 4 weeks | 180% | 219% |
4 weeks | 95% | 92% |
Japan | PS3 (YoY) | 360 (YoY) |
First 4 weeks | 825% | 115% |
4 weeks | 465% | 26% |
4 weeks | 53% | -66% |
Worldwide (launch aligned for 360)
PS3 (slim / last) | PS3 YoY | 360 (slim / last) | 360 YoY | |
First 4 weeks | 1,429,991 / 468,419 | 205% | 1,165,110 / 419,451 | 178% |
4 weeks | 1,032,659 / 535,518 | 93% | 841,540 / 426,523 | 97% |
It's already been said, but the YoY comparisons are pretty useless - particularly because of the uneven timing (PS3 slim launching closer to holidays). Still, in raw numbers, the 360 slim is holding up nearly as well as the PS3 slim's, which seems insane considering the PS3 came with a $100 price drop.
Kantor said: Problems with this comparison: 1) August 2009 was not the PS3 Slim's first month. 2) NPD figures do not cover the entire world. Having said that, the 360S has had a much greater impact on hardware sales than many (including myself) had expected, so well done to Microsoft for making quite a genius business decision. |
Why do you guys choose to ignore that the 360 didn't get a price cut? Not that I didn't point this out in my first post in this thread, so I'm not surprised in the slightest, but still, be fair on both sides.

No you are right, but a bad analysis is a bad analysis. I think the 360 has done exceptionally well, and it still has halo reach week kinect. Big year for microsoft

The 360 had already hit the golden price. The Slim put a viable version of the console at that golden price, and rejuvenated the brand's image. That did more than any price cut ever could.
I wasn't ignoring it. The 360 just didn't need any justification for not selling more than the huge numbers it has already managed.
so vgchartz number is actually quite accurate, also with recent TGS sony claimed PS3 is 38mil,sold, it is quite similar with vgchartz number.
keep up the good work vgchartz, even if site like n4g always bashing vgchartz related news.

So does the PS3!
