If he's alluding to MS having some sort if exclusivity for the rumored Superman game that would be a great get for MS to counter spiderman.

I would assume that the songs are designed as hints about launch title 3rd party marketing deals, rather than 3rd party exclusives, with the main exception being Killer Instinct. The first one would presumably be a hint that MS has AC Ragnarok marketing. 2nd one would be WB's Superman game. 3rd one would presumably be a zombie game; Dead Rising is dead, so maybe marketing on a revived cross-gen version of Dead Island 2 from Sumo, which has been in development for several years now.

That being said, if those are what he is hinting at, it seems fake. Sony is rumored to have AC Ragnarok marketing with a reveal at Sony's PS5 reveal event next month. A new KI on launch was recently shot down by an Iron Galaxy dev I thought. I thought the Superman game was confirmed dead after multiple failed prototypes over the course of this gen; not even sure which WB studio would be developing it if it does still exist, Rocksteady is confirmed to be working on a new IP I'm pretty sure, WB Montreal is doing the new Batman Arkham, Avalanche Software is supposedly working on the AAA Harry Potter RPG, Monolith is presumably working on a new LOTR game even though the Middle Earth series is over now, NeatherRealm is a fighting game studio, TT does Lego games, WB Boston and Portkey are mobile studios.

If somebody's trying to hint at marketing deals, as to the reason for their hype....well then I hereby submit that this person isn't worth listening to in the first place. MS getting the marketing rights for something or other isn't going to enhance my enjoyment of those games.

I mean he could be hinting at 2nd/3rd party exclusives, but the person he was responding to was asking him about 3rd party games on XSX launch, and he listed 4 songs as a response, one of which is the character select theme from KI, a 2nd party title, the other 3 being a song called Berserker with Vikings in the music video, a song from the Man of Steel Soundtrack, and a song from the 28 Weeks Later soundtrack. I doubt that MS will have 4 2nd/3rd party exclusives on launch, on top of Halo Infinite and Forza Motorsport 8. It's not impossible I guess, but I question rather it would be smart to have that many exclusives competing against each other on launch.

The post he's replying to is asking about timed exclusives, Idk why he would list Killer Instinct though, I'm not sure what Berserker could be but timed Dead Island 2 and Superman, along with Forza Motorsport 8 and Halo Infinite? I can't see it, I also hope Microsoft doesn't waste millions on timed exclusives, to get a Superman title timed exclusive would cost a fortune.

Killer Instinct was also shot down by Iron Galaxy, maybe another studio could create it? Idk, I doubt it, I'm not really confident in this leaker.

If MS was going to go for a timed exclusive from WB, I'd rather they get the AAA Harry Potter RPG than Superman, a game which has had a notoriously troubled development cycle, with multiple cancelled iterations over the past several years. Maybe the game is not Superman though, but rather Rocksteady's game, as I recall Jason Schreier leaked back in 2018 that they were doing a GAAS game with multiple DC heroes, somewhat similar to Square Enix's Avengers game.

Dead Island 2 as a timed exclusive would make some sense, MS has lots of experience working with Sumo, and there was even a rumor awhile back that MS let Sumo use their cloud tech for Dead Island 2 in exchange for something, either stealing the marketing rights from Sony (was revealed on Sony E3 with Sony marketing originally), or possibly even timed exclusivity.

But yeah, that still doesn't explain the Viking game hint. He was asked about 3rd party games, so I doubt it is Hellblade 2 on launch, and the only other Viking game we know to be in development is AC Ragnarok, which there is no way MS got timed exclusivity on something that big, especially given the rumors of a PS5 event reveal.

It also doesn't explain KI being hinted at when Iron Galaxy recently shot down a new KI releasing this year, unless MS is passing KI over to a 3rd dev (XB1 version was already worked on by Double Helix for season 1, who then passed it to Iron Galaxy for seasons 2 and 3).

Would be cool if we got a Ryse 2 in different eras, say, Viking.

Now that's an idea that could explain the Viking game hint. Crytek has 290 devs yet no announced game in development right now, except for a Hunt port on PS4 in February. Assuming that the whole studio wasn't working on Hunt for the past few years, they could have time to get a new Ryse ready by Holiday 2020 if Phil contracted it out back in 2017 or 2018. The question is though, would MS take a chance on another Ryse, after the first one got meh reviews and sold less than 2m on Xbox (plus another 1-2m on PC)? The sales were pretty good taking into account PC, but I still wonder if Phil would take a chance on Ryse 2.

Didn't Microsoft try to buy the Ryse IP but Crytek refused to sell? Not like Crytek has been in the best position practically this entire generation so it's only a matter of time if Microsoft is still interested.

Yeah, I remember that, back when they were selling off a bunch of stuff to avoid bankruptcy MS made an offer for Ryse, but they decided to hold on to Ryse rights. If both Crytek and MS are still interested in another Ryse game, maybe they did work out a deal for a sequel.

After Microsoft said the game sold well then Crytek responded that it didn't, then they sold off Homefront instead of Ryse, Idek how they survived this generation Tbh.

It seems like The Hunt has given them a few more years of life.
