Why if I'm so happy with how things are going right now, am I gonna entertain the idea of getting bought out after my first ever AAA game ships? The only way that makes any kind of sense, is if I'm shipping that game with the same publisher that I've been working with, that I'm comfortable with, and the relationship between us has proven to be mutually beneficial long term. 

I'm not gonna suddenly consider a buy out cus I made one AAA game working with some other publisher for the first time. I mean....why? To whom? Those guys (Ubi, EA, Activision, Square, Deep Silver, etc.) that I just made one game for? I don't know what it's like to work under them long term. The only way a buy out makes more sense after working with a new publisher, is if you really only did care about the money, and a successful AAA game under your belt (regardless of who publishes) is going to increase your pure monetary worth. If I'm to take this guy at his word, that's not what he cares about.

Well, he could also be thinking about in case the game bombs, then he'd definitely reconsider selling out.

If they're partnering with a multi-platform publisher like, THQ Nordic, and the game turns out to be a bigger financial success than Ori then it doesn't make sense to sell out either but even so, I really don't think Microsoft has Moon's 2nd IP locked down.

Well sure, if you bomb on a big project, you're more likely to wanna take a bail out check so to speak, but he's speaking here as someone who's pretty confident about his studio and what they're working on, so I'll take the liberty of assuming that's not his head space.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that MS has them locked down beyond Ori, but I'm just saying that based on what he said there, it doesn't scream multi-platform to me either. 



Does Moon even have enough money to self publish a AAA game? I bet a big publisher helped fund it or MS is funding it.

The vibe I get from Thomas is that Moon's 2nd IP will be multiplatform Tbh, I have for a long time, he specially talks a lot about wanting to be bigger, wanting to reach more gamers, Moon somehow got Ori on Switch, I feel like they want to be a Multiplatform studio.

I also think if they're partnering with a multiplatform publisher like THQ Nordic or whatever and the game turns out to be a big financial success then it won't make sense for him to sell out so I assume he's talking about financial stability, if their 2nd IP turns out to be a flop. It's a big risk they're taking going from a 2D AA Platformer to a AAA ARPG.

And if the IP sells well, then he can ask more money to sell.

Any way you see it, it's probaby a better idea to wait for your big game to ship before you go into any possible negotiations.

Convoluted levels that are a pain to navigate unless you know every single one by heart.
Bad controls and weak character moves.
Lame graphics (I know it's supposed to be like the old ones but that's not really an excuse. Generations did it better)
and the biggest flaw which has been in the series from the very beginning, camera is far too close on Sonic. They should've either move it more into the distance or make it dynamic. The faster you go the more you can see of the level. Or give us the options to choose between close and wide cameras.

Sonic games are just not for you it seems. I found Sonic Mania the best 2D Sonic game ever made.

They've made a ton of money with Ori and will make even more with Ori 2. And we still don't know what their next game is. AAA game is what devs say but there is still no proof that it is indeed an AAA game and not another indie game.



 

When they say AAA they probably mean something in the ballpark of GreedFall, The Surge, Vampyr as in somewhere between AA-AAA. A Better example is Compulsion going from Contrast to We Happy Few

I’m happy that they are trying to go big but considering their size and experience it’s still a massive risk for Moon.

IDK, a red Xbox can look pretty good...



The Gears 5 one looks better though .



Who else here is excited about Wasteland 3? It is a great IP that I barely see anyone talking about it here. InXile is making a AAA game at the moment, hopefully it’s the adaptation of Wasteland to 3D like Fallout.

I'm actually pretty excited. Wasteland 2 had a lot of potential but made some mistakes. Graphics were unappealing (especially on the world map) and I didn't really like the battle system compared to other SRPGs, which is why I only played it for a couple of hours.

Visuals have been improved by a lot and I can only hope they tweaked the battle system a little.



I'm actually pretty hyped for Wasteland 3. I never played the old ones, cause honestly, by the time I discovered them, they looked pretty damn dated, especially coming off newer, similar style games. It's definitely right up my alley though, and I'm hoping this is gonna be a great point to jump in the franchise. It looks really good.
