Finished my very first Metroid game last night with MPR. I would definitely play MP2 if it got a remastered release on Switch/New Nintendo Switch.

I'm planning to play/beat my first Metroid game in the future.

Not sure if I should start with Metroid Prime remake or if I should just play Metroid 1 on NSO. Still thinking about which one to do first.

Both is fine, but if it's Metroid 1 I suggest consulting a walkthrough from time to time. Usually the main pull of Metroid games is finding roadblocks, detouring for a while in order to stumble upon upgrades, then overcoming the roadblocks. But the first game is pretty rough and very confusing. Still a cool game, though.

Edit: I think one major reason why early Metroid games became so beloved is because they come from a time before the Internet. If you're stuck, you're stuck. Go find a way out. There is a way, just keep looking. Nowadays we're kind of spoiled in that whenever we're stuck in a game, we just look it up in the web. The sensational feeling of digging yourself out of the mud is phenomenal. To find a hidden path that opens up a new area full of new possibilities is a wonderful feeling. Who am I talking to, you surely know that damn well. So in that regard, maybe don't consult a walkthrough. However, since we're adults now and have no time anymore, ... I don't know. It's up to you and your level of resilience.

Oh ya, I plan to use a guide - used one for my playthrough of Zelda 1 last year and I'm glad I did it lol

Anyways, I finished Dragon Quest 1 remake on Nintendo Switch. It was much more bearable than the NES version which I played like 7+ years ago.

Game: Dragon Quest I
Genre: RPG
Developer: Square Enix
Publisher: Square Enix
System: Nintendo Switch (NS)
Year of Release: 2019
Length of Playthrough: 8 Hours

69 out of 100

+Remade Visuals, OST
+Leveling experience needed and cost of items/weapons/armor reduced
+Quick Save

-Half of the game is grinding
-Very short

Score wise comparison sake....

Dragon Quest I (NES): 62
Dragon Quest I (NS): 69
Dragon Quest II (NES): 65
Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King (3DS): 98

Courage to you for playing the mobile remake.

I'm not a fan of the artstyle used and I'd much prefer wait to see for DQ3 HD-2D remake and see if we'll get the same treatment for DQ1 and DQ2 instead

I'm not holding out for SE - especially with the lack of news from them about DQ3 HD-2D - that and the fact that they are re-structuring and cancelled some projects.

This and what happened with FFversusXIII/FFXV irks me lol

But ya I'm open to playing games of various styles (in multiple versions).

I actually have the mobile remakes on iOS as well when I bought them on sale few years ago - the Switch versions go on sale more often and I got them on sale not too long ago.

I'll get to 2 and 3 later on but I plan to play the following versions in the future (unless new versions come out)

DQ2 - NS

DQ3 - NS

DQ4 - DS

DQ5 - DS

DQ6 - DS

DQ7 - 3DS

DQ8 - PS2 (because I already played the 3DS version - I do also have the iOS version)

DQ9 - DS

DQ11 - (Havent decided which one to play....I have them on all platforms..NS, Xbox, PS, and Steam....got them all on sale for like $12 to $20).

And similar to my PS4/5 library

Only have DQ11 and Builders 2 on Xbox.

Nice list going !

I'm currently in my playthrough of DQVI on my 3DS currently. DQV is definitely the gem people hyped it up to be.

Too bad the fourth game didn't have the banter system on the NA version on the DS version ... But yeah, a good adventure nonetheless. I'm sure you'll jam with the Zenithian trilogy 👍

I'd like to some day see another third person Metroid game, but not in the style of Other M. I would rather it's done in the Splatoon 3 engine so that it has better controls.

DQ5 on SNES was my first actual DQ game I played but sadly it was during an time/era where I would get to the end or near the end of a game but never finish it (happened with Earthbound, Secret of Mana and DQ5 in the early 2000s , thankfully finished Earthbound...like 10+ years later but need to finish DQ5 and SoM lol).

Unless you're dead set on playing through the entire series, I would just skip Metroid 1. Zero Mission on GBA is a much better version of that.

Well back then, I had emulated it lol , so it was a fan translation.
