You know what? Comparing it with MHP3 is an excelent idea, of course, 3DS userbase is just 4408 units ahead of MHP3 first week, but what the hell, it is indeed laughable to compare it with the Wii version even if they are trending to do similary.

I would perhaps agree with you if there were 20 million 3DS sold in Japan (or even anywhere close to 10 million 3DS) at this point. As it is I, for one, would find it amusing if anyone compares the sales of TriG with another protable MH game when the 3DS is barely at the 2 million units point in Japan...


There's not really a fair comparison, since all the PSP's MH had an higer userbase, but the first one will be outsold since the IP was not as popoular as today. We could say the opposite: it's amusing how MH3 kept being compared to portable MHs to prove it was a failure, even when Capcom claimed the opposite.

MH3 was at 307pt; the advantage is increasing!
Galaxy 2 was basically at the same level as 3D Land now. And still a lot higher than what NSMBW was doing at the same time.
It's really unbelievable how, in the end, thanks to a Godlike burst, NSMBW ended with 1000pt XD

EDIT: And now that I see it, MHP2nd is an even better exampe of a Godlike burst: at MH3G's distance from release, it had 272pt...it ended with 2561 LOL

I seriously have no idea what to expect from MH3G first week. The small user base vs huge preorders on COMG is tricky to figure out. Until we get some official preorder numbers, it would be hard to pinpoint how big MH3G will open to. One thing for sure is tht it will have a monstrous impact on 3DS sales.

Where did I say it should be compared with MHP3? I never did... I said it was amusing seeing people comparing a portable MH with a home console one. Why dont you compare it with 2G?
