You Don't really think that its going to have an effect like the wii did do you? The masses? ok let me explain this to you

elderly people play the wii     No controller makes casual games even less confusing... +elderly
I'd love to see an elderly person get past the dashboard
The system can be set up to not go into the dashboard
assumptions??

a lot of Females love the wii   Fitness games that track complete body movement and use Xbox Live to compare workout stats, etc... +females
what fitness games have been announced or are you making assumptions? if they do make fitness games, will people who already own a wii and wii fit buy the copy cat version so they can have both?
People never buy whatever the latest fitness craze is right?  That's why there's no fitness industry anymore...
That didn't make any sense like i said in the real world we live in real people are struggling to pay of debt wht would they by another console for the same thing?

kids love the wii  Kids will love Milo & Kate... +kids
Milo was scripted
And...?  Do you think kids are really expecting the next AI breakthrough?  They'll be happy to finger paint witha character on the screen.
struggling to pay bills, i know lets buy a few hundred ££ machine just to finger paint

Blokes mostly like the wii because they know if they get it to make the wife happy they might get "some" that night.  See above... +"blokes"
see above his wife would probably hit him for wasting money on something they already have
No worries since it'll probably be the wives buying it anyways. really? I've not heard of many women buying 360s for their own amusment, the wii on ther other hand... plenty

That is the mass audience the wii sold too, my nan plays the wii, can you imgine what games and elderly person would like to play on NATAL? can you imagine your nan playing halo reach???  No but does she like game shows?  What about bowling?  What about playing with her nephew from afar and being able to see him!
If she likes bowling i think everyone would recomned to her the wii> 360 any day of the week
Wait, the same nan that couldn't bypass a dashboard earlier is going to prefer trying to figure out a Wii remote over using just her body? yes because its  simple to get aim and point, like the remote to the telly to click on the game after she put it in, no confusing dash

do you imagine lots of women who like the wii wanting to jump ships really?  Yes I can actually when new fitness software that emphasis group experiences is released.  That's the power of Natal + Xbox Live.
No use common sense its a waste of money on what they already have
Is that why the fitness and weight loss industries are so big?
I never  once said it wasnt big, i said why would they buy the same on the 360 when they have it on the wii already, why waste money??

and what happens to the blokes who can't be arsed to get up jump around and pretend to shoot after a hard days work, the people that just want to use a controller, Yes nintendo took the chance and make it well, Microsoft is blatantly copying but its really not going to work out the same Blantantly copying?  Do you mean with a "wand" like controller?  Or can you show me all the hands free gesture driven Nintendo games?  like i said earlier in the thread yes microsoft and sony are copying, but sony knows from first hand expirience not to put there all into it, which seems to be what they are doing with natal.
Yeah Sony learned from the last time but Microsoft hasn't learned anything.  That's why Sony promotes their motion controller to core gamers and Microsoft to casuals, because they learned from Nintendo's success (it's Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition that is responsible for the Wii's amazing sales success not Wii Sports, right?!?).Well there about to learn

This is not a good time for such speculation. Just like last year with the 360, when you speculate about this right after a console has a price cut, the holiday season or a huge software release, it skews EVERYTHING.

Right now people are really excited about the PS3 sales, but just last year around this same time the 360 had reversed the sales trend and the gap went from 5.5 mil to 8 mil +. At that time the 360 looked untouchable, JUST LIKE THE PS3 DOES NOW.

So lets not overreact to the current sales numbers. The economy, motion controllers, unannounced software titles and price cuts can skew any and all of these predictions.

The most REASONABLE response, though, would be the 360 just because it's so much closer. That's speaking, as someone mentioned earlier, with the head and not the heart.

I didnt get where you where going with that at all, Sony never put much into Sixasis

Nintendo took a big gamble and Sony played it safe and paid the price for it.  Now history appears to be repeating itself with Microsoft taking the big gamble and Sony playing it safe.  Even both E3s (for Sixaxis and Sony Wand) resemble each other (during both Sony presentations they demonstrated their motion controllers with core games while Nintendo and now Microsoft clearly aim their motion controllers at the mass market).  It's amazing how Sony seems to have learned absolutely nothing from the Wii. not even from its brilliant marketing.

At this point in time it is more accurate to say that Sony's wand demonstration resembles their Sixaxis presentation as both weren't really convincing and it doesn't seem like Sony will put serious support behind the wand. *EDIT: This is confusingly written, sorry. You are right on Sony's part, but not on Microsoft's which follows.*

Microsoft's Natal presentation reminds me of Sony's E3 2005. Trailers that built insane expectations and hype that the final product a year later couldn't live up to. So far we have seen no convincing software for Natal. Of course this can still change in the next few months, but right now I am leaning more towards Sony from 2005 than Nintendo from 2006 like you do.

Regarding your following post (the one with the responses in red): You don't seem to understand what made the Wii and its games successful and I think that you are setting up yourself for a massive disappointment.

I can see where the audiance is........... kinda take away the old people and (80%) of the girls and then the lazy people. I think people who think it's going to be succesful like the wii are setting themselves up for an even bigger dissapointment.

maybe I am all hyped up becuase of the sales, but i think its good/interesting just to see what people say now and how different there thoughts will be when they look back after one of the consoles does hit 50 million

Some people are really underestimating the PS3.

exactly, lets look at what numonex said

Sales per week to reach 50 million console sales:
360 needs to sell on average 177,500 units per week for the next 80 weeks.
PS3 needs to sell on average 248,750 units per week for the next 80 weeks.

This is pretty much what it was selling at even before the holiday period, grand turismo release and final fantasy will help chew those bad boy numbers down too NOM NOM

but yes as you said sabby a lot of people are underestimating the ps3
everyone underestimated the slim sales
everyone underestimated black friday numbers
everyone doubted the slim would sell 1 million in one week
everyone doubted it would hit 30 million by the years end

Yeh, I know.

I think some people are forgetting that 2010 is going to have tons of software and PS3 will be on top when it comes to software. Look at MAG, it will be a hit in America, so will GoW3, GT5 will move over 700k first week and this game alone will guarantee that PS3 will always stay ahead in EU.

What I'm predicting is that PS3 will sell 4 million in its first four months, 4 million from May to August and 7 million in the last remaining months. Thats a total of 15+ million for the year while I think that 360 will only manage 11 million at best for the year. Though I believe we will see $150 Arcade and $250 Elite around September, but this really will only boost NA and UK by quite alot and otherwise PS3 will still be dominating in Japan and EU.

So I think the gap will only be 1 million by the end of 2010 and PS3 will overtake 360 no longer than June 2011. After that it'll be PS3 who reaches 50 million first.

But this is just my prediction and I think too many people think Natal will be the 360's saviour.

what your point eliasg 900k bunch of cheaters and brats playing mw2 on live ...
same thing with the ps3

When sony introduced casual motion sensing and exercising together this happend it had some successand the other eye toy games after it but still some idea like this (NATAL) won 't catch the Wii success

I hear ya, just because one company doesn't have success with a product it means everyone else won't be successful with anything remotely similar to it.  Oh, did you know there was a fitness video game pad before Wii Fit?  It didn't do too well and that's the reason why Wii Fit didn't sell either.  Err wait...  Add-ons don't sell!  *looks at Wii Balance Board and tons of Wii add-ons*.......

That would actually be nice, then they could properly twins then with identicle sales lol

@ Legend, I do think Natal will sell well with Microsoft's powerful advertising, but I just don't see it having the same audience as the Wii, I guess we will have to wait and see how it pans out because really.......... non of us have a clue lol, I just want to find out what people believe now and see how it compares at a later date when this has all happend, if you get me :)
