I don't see how that alters what I said.  Even if Visceral were the best developers ever there is no guarantee that they could rival GOW at it's own game. Games like the ones I mentioned are classics for a reason, because they stand above the competition.  To say that someone is making a game to rival GOW, without knowing anything about the game, seeing any gameplay or graphics etc is premature in the extreme. If making a AAA, classic franchise was as easy as just making the decision to do so, what developer wouldn't?

Oh, lol, I wasn't disagreeing with you at all. I'm just saying it would seem EA are trying to steal some of its thunder, though I know they won't be able to for the reasons you listed.

Ah, ok:) Welll then let's wait and see what they can manage.  Kudos to them if they do manage to 'rival' GOW.

sure why not. just look at the rock band-guitar deal that happened. the console that it's on doesn't make it good, its the people behind it. it wouldn't be the most surprising thing to ever happen. any game franchise can be rivaled not matter how good it is. take killzone 2 for example. it's just as good as halo 3, so i'm pretty sure that there can be a franchise on the 360 that is just as good as god of war

I'm sorry, but pick I'm not seeing how God of War is this monster IP? The Game has like 5.8 million units moved with 2 games, very respectable and solid numbers, but c'mon...that's not triple AAA sales.

Nobody says it's a Halo level seller or something. But you got to take 2 things into account:

 

1) PS2 piracy was rampant.

2) It's main selling point is the US.

My point is why would M$ be looking for a new IP to rival God of War?  Once again, people are putting expectation on a PS3 game, that hasn't proven itself yet.  For example, UC2 is no sales champ, but it is a technical one, so if somebody wants to say rival that game technically, I can say yeah...but god of war 3?  HUH?

I agree. Sony hasn't created a rival to Fable either, and those two games have sold about as well. Neither of them need to do so though.

i doubt it. gow3 will be more polished than uncharted 2 . these type of top tier titles are more suited 2 ps3. without spanning out on multiple dvd it would be difficult for microsoft to have a rival action game like gow3, they could make a game thats very playable but a 1 dvd game would pale in comparison. im on the tibet level on uncharted 2 when u start in villiage it looks astounding the best visuals ever

God of War 3 is going to be a beast as well graphically, but sales-wise, I can see what you mean. It all depends on how GoWIII does in NA.
