With 2010 quickly coming upon us, one thing is looking for certain; it’ll be one of the best years of gamers across all consoles. Currently, Sony seems like they’ll be starting 2010 off with big release after big release. Nintendo and Microsoft are also preparing for a massive year. With Microsoft currently planning to launch Project Natal with a slew of new titles like Alan Wake, Mass Effect 2, Halo: Reach, Fable 3, Final Fantasy XIII, and many yet to be revealed titles from both first-party developers and third-party developers, they are setting up to show the Xbox 360 still has a number of good years left for everyone to savor. Nintendo also has a slew of hot titles like Metroid: The Other M, Super Mario Galaxy 2, potentially a new Zelda and Pikmin entry, and third-party offerings like Red Steel 2 and Monster Hunter 3 will help Nintendo keep the Wii momentum high in 2010.

Though each company seems like they’ll be offering a lot of big titles for their respective home console, Sony has been on the forefront with announcements and release date for a number of their big titles for 2010. Sony is looking to release four ‘Game of the Year’ quality titles in the opening months of the year and they are all in different genres. Starting the year off with White Knight Chronicles, PS3 owners get a little taste of Level-5’s latest RPG entry. Though a lot of the initial hype for the title has passed over the last year, hardcore RPG fans will gobble this up as they wait for Final Fantasy XIII to release in March.

Final Fantasy XIII may have gone multiplatform, but, whether you own a PS3 or Xbox 360, it’s still the biggest RPG title for 2010. Square Enix has been crafting this title for several years and the wait is finally over. Japanese gamers will be playing this game on December 17th, but everyone else has to wait until March 9th. Showcasing a new battle system and passionate story about love, loss, and more, it has the potential to be one the best Final Fantasy titles in recent years. In case Final Fantasy XIII isn't enough for you, Final Fantasy XIV is slated for a 2010 release on the PS3 and PC.

If RPGs aren’t your thing, then perhaps the search for a serial killer found in Heavy Rain will be. Offering a cinematic experience, Heavy Rain will offer you a gaming experience like no other. Sporting a sophisticated plot, powerful narrative segments, and exploration into morals, this won’t be your typical adventure game -- and you can't truly classify it as an adventure game. You’ll take the role of multiple characters, all of which have different motivations regarding the case of the Origami killer. With the entire game based upon your actions and decisions, the story of the game will shape to the choices you make. Even though no official date has been given for Heavy Rain, it’ll see release in Japan in early February, so it’s likely we’ll see it soon after.

In March, the world will end in chaos. Kratos is coming to the PS3 in his first true PS3 entry with God of War III. Offering amazing HD visuals, gruesome over-the-top violence, and all the fun gameplay mechanics from previous God of War titles, God of War III is looking to be one of the best games for 2010. Sony just offered us a little taste of God of War III via a demo packed with the God of War: Collection, but, even after playing through the first two games again and the demo, you are thirsty for more blood. Kratos will satisfy all your savage needs as your rip the heads off enemies and slaughter countless enemies in one of the biggest and anticipated PS3 titles.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is the king of online multiplayer shooters across all systems right now. MAG is looking to change that, though. Supporting up to 256 simultaneous players, MAG wants to create the deepest and most satisfying online shooting experience on any system. PSN may not be at the level of Xbox Live in terms of communication or users, but it has been getting better recently. Whether MAG will become the new standard for online shooters or if it only caters to the SOCOM crowd can’t be known, but it’ll definitely offer PS3 owners something unique.

The first few months of the year are now over and Sony is launching the PlayStation Wand. Using new motion-based technology, the PlayStation Wand will need the PlayStation Eye to mimic your movements onscreen for compatible games. Sony hasn’t revealed many titles for this new accessory, but Capcom did showoff Resident Evil 5 for the PS3 during the Tokyo Game Show. It’ll be interesting to see what Microsoft and Sony show for their new movement based accessories as the year goes on. Natal has the media hype so far, though. Microsoft has also made it known that they’ll push Project Natal like a new console.

Gran Turismo 5 will see release in Japan in March, but no date is known for the rest of us. It could be an early-summer title, but whenever it does release, the game will be met with open arms. Described as racing simulation perfection, the Gran Turismo series has always been top-tier in the racing genre and GT5 will be no different. Gran Turismo 5: Prologue has sold over one million copies, so it’s safe to assume the full release of GT5 will dwarf that figure fairly quickly.

Coming from Team Ico, The Last Guardian has a bunch of hype around it. Partially thanks to the amazing visual and art style the game has, The Last Guardian will be the first Team Ico game to land on the PS3. Ico and Shadow of the Colossus were loved by many, but they are often overshadowed by other titles. After the showing at E3 09, though, chances are slim that people will be ignoring The Last Guardian when it does release. The game is said to be a 2010 title, but there hasn’t been any firm release date for the game.

All of these titles, aside from The Last Guardian, are seeing release either in the opening months of the year, or before the end of 2010. Many are sequel to previous ‘Game of the Year’ winners, and that makes them potential candidates for the coveted award, too. A number of heavy hitters haven’t been announced, yet, but you can likely expect an Insomniac title to see release in 2010 – likely Resistance 3. Even without knowing the rest of the 2010 lineup, Sony has a strong roster of games for the New Year.

With the titles currently known, Sony has the best 2010 lineup, so far. Microsoft and Nintendo will also come out with some major players in 2010 and make things very interesting. For us, the gamers, 2010 is looking to be one of the best gaming years in recent memory.

Whether you agree or not (it's still be based on you own preference) with article 2010 will be a hell of year for PS3 owners and it shaping up to be biggest game line-up for this generation for Sony.

Here we go again. Another article with a controversial title to attract hits.

My Mario Kart Wii friend code: 2707-1866-0957

Technically,Sony should have the strongest year ever in 2010,but Sony needs to give a good marketing to each game they have to make that happen
Those games deserve to sell milions

2010, year of the ps3 confirmed?

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

It will win in games, just like it has for the last 2 years.

(Judged by reviews and awards of course.)

Sales? Obviously not against the Wii, but it will almost certainly beat the 360.

I predict that 2010 will be the year of silly articles. Again.
