Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Ubisoft not finding much success with latest Wii games

Just to add, Rabbids was pulled from the shops to be repackaged as a '12' due to someone discovering the line 'stop pissing off my dog' within the game. It has also just started receiving some decent advertising in the UK. I imagine it will be another reasonable success. Its a good game, fun and worth at least a rent.

Shaun White is the same game again, why would I buy another one?

I love Rabbids Go Home and Tenuchu Wii was an awesome winter release. But with that said fuck you Ubi. Despite being a little kinder to the Wii than some publishers, they have still been more than happy to flood the platform with shitty ports and broken mini-games. If they can't make money selling cheap ports on essentially upgraded GC HW they are retarded. I have been following the PSP charts lately and these games are lucky to sell 25K LIFETIME. Yet people still make games for that console without bitching. It blows my mind that anything but a AAA Wii game needs more than a few hundred thousand to break even. They certainly arnt using that money on advertising.

Another thing to point out is that Rabbids go home is likely to outsell Dead Space on either console and possibly both. How in the hell isn't that not a huge profit?

I wish these assholes would go 100% HD for a year and see what happens. Oh yeah they would crash and burn even faster than they already are.

Perhaps Ubisoft will do better with the 'unpredictable' Wii market this quarter with Rabbids and Shaun White. They are better than the games in the last quarter. Still not going to buy another iteration of the snowboarder; it's just too similar. I see Rabbids is at 130,000 already. Now they have started to advertise it will probably continue to grow.

Hm, looking at the list of games theRepublic posted, I can't say I'm surprised.
Rabbids go gome will probably make some money but that one isn't included in these numbers.

If Rabbids go home, Red steel 2 and NMH2 all fail then we're talking.

Also, I think that the Wii casual game market is becoming saturated. How many casual games have not had the past few years? Companies forget that the casual market needs quality games as well, otherwise they won't be succesful.

Personally I would have considered SW, because I loved the first. But the reviews pretty much all said it was basically an expansion pack. That makes sences considereing it only became clear the game was a (Wii) hit less than a year ago. Thats just not enough development time for a quality title. If Ubi thinks my $50 is worth a rushjob with little new content, than I think Ubi doesn't deserve my $50. Perhaps somebody could translate rushjob into French so those tools can understand it. Rabbids Go Home on the other hand is brilliant production full of humor and innovative gameplay. So yeah Ubi is a bunch of douchebags with a few talented people working for them.

UbiSoft needs to pick up there game. Yes I was pretty happy to see UbiSoft supporting the Wii out of the gate. I thought this meant Ghost Recon and Red Steel esque games. But so far all I've seen is one Raving Rabbids game after another plus a dozen pieces of casual junk. Shovel ware central. But I was sort of happy to see RedSteel2 but again they changed the art style to cell shaded in an attempt to appeal more to the Wii's user base.

I think UbiSoft's unpredictable market statement is refering to the casual games they flooded the market with aren't selling as well as they did in the past. But I think that is because casual gamers aren't hardcore they don't spend as much on games and in turn won't make consistant purchases.

I suspect Rabbids, TMNT, RedSteel2 and Shaun White will probubly all push over 100k. I wouldn't be suprised to see UbiSoft start holding back on more casual content and perhaps giving us more hardcore content. Wouldn't it be awsome to see more action/shooter and mature games coming from UbiSoft? Their latest fitness game bundled with the camera might also sell a bit!

But in the end UbiSoft is going to realize casual software isn't the only route to go to be successful on the Wii!

as far as I'm concerned, after RS2 release, ubi can stop wii support alltogether.

You shouldn't whine if your game portfolio for the platform consist of 90% casual titles (and 70% of those are low-quality shovelware). Releasing the only hardcore title in the first quarter of 2010 instead in the holiday time ain't a plus either.

Rabbids are cool, but even that cool IP can't sustain that much sequals in such a short timeframe.

.

OK, so how much of the marketing budget was allocated to Assasin's Creed compared to Rabbids Go Home & the new Shaun White. That's what I'd like to know.

Ubisoft's problem, specifically speaking for the Wii that is, is that they are obsessed with the whole "more is better" idea.

We have had 4 rabbids games in the last 4 years. There have been 2 shaun white, price is right and family feud games in the last year as well. Honestly, they do a lot worse with the DS but the Wii isn't as bad. There are over 30 imagine games released for the DS/Wii over the last 2 years...The petz series isn't much better. Granted, these past 2 are casual game series, but it's still annoying imo.

I know AC2 got a ton of marketing, on the other hand I have seen zero commercials for Rabbids, in fact I didn't know it was out until I saw it on the sales charts the week after it launched last month
