It almost makes you want to say something equally mean in return based on something about their personality as a group. Like "If you don't stop believing in God, then I will continue to support gay marriage".

In fact I think LGBT groups that have suffered oppression should have a policy like this.

I actually have to agree with you there. And many churches do as well.

 

The only people that my church discriminates against are Canadians, but who can blame them(j/k :P)

I don't think the Bible is trying to equate homosexuality with bestiality...I think that's CH trying to lump them together, because most verses concerning homosexuality do not lump them together as being the same.

However, the Bible does discuss the argument of sexual immorality, of which homosexuality is included. I don't think it's '2000 year old reasoning' when they said that sexual immorality was wrong - as there were probably MORE homosexuals per capita than there are today. The argument is that sexual immorality - adultery, homosexuality, bestiality, fornication, orgies, ect devalue and destroy relationships, therefore we must abstain from that activity. The Bible is pretty clear on that one.

There is a slightly different situation in the UK. The Church of England is state funded so they can't really go against the secular state. Although I agree with you that a private church doesn't have to provide a service to anyone they don't want to.

Well, see my thing is, I think the local church has a role in serving and being pro-active in the community.

I did not know, though, the situation in England. I guess US and UK don't have the same separation of church and state it seems.

No, we don't have the same. There is no American church....That is why we have freedom of religion in America.
