Looking at NSMB preorders I'm going to say it'll look like this

1. MW2 X360

2. MW2 PS3

3. NSMB

Most people don't bother to preorder games, heck I'm totally anticipating the game and I didn't bother to preorder, why? Preordering doesn't give you anything, I prefer to just show up and pick it up on release date.

I got it for $5 cheaper from preordering plus a $10 gift card, so effectively I got NSMB for $35.

Well good, I never saw any deals like that in my area, all I saw was put five dollars down to reserve a copy

Oh wow I had forgotten about this thread because posted in it so long ago. But it is relevant now.

Well indeed, there is a lot of crow to be eaten this thread and eventually I might have to eat some. Currently here is the standings with 3 weeks left in the year (technically 2 weeks but 3 weeks left of data).

MW2 360- 7.23 million
NSMB Wii- 5.22 million
MW2 PS3- 4.88 million

Oh indeed there were a few who predicted it would be like that but a lot of people bought into the early sales data and didn't let Mario show it's power haha. Indeed NSMB Wii has become the biggest game this holiday season. My prediction was the order you see up there but man the way Mario is selling, I could be eating some crow as it has an outside shot of passing MW2 360. I think this just goes to show, never under estimate Mario even if it is dealing with one of the biggest launches in video game history. People were saying it would take a long time to surpass the other versions but man it is doing it in a few weeks. Guess Reggie wasn't all that crazy.

Only took 4 weeks.

People just get way too excited over the short-term bursts, and let it get to their head. GTA4 was the same story. Example:

Put aside NSMB Wii selling 1M week one - in the end, it'll have nearly made 6 consecutive million selling weeks. That's a ridiculous feat on its own.
I'm honestly not sure why people assumed this would sell like SMG, the games are nothing alike. Though it looks like Rol was able to convince BHR.
Anyway, I knew NSMB vs 360 would be close (by the end of Jan), but I definitely thought 360 MW had a bigger shot. I completely underestimated NSMB Wii in Japan, I honestly didn't think a console game could sell like that there...
