Forums - Sales - World Wide Sales UP -- PSWiiDS in Sales HEAVEN!

...Kantor I'd be willing to bet the price cuts for all 3 consoles are what effecting the ps2 sales the most. for 100 more dollars you can buy a wii or 360.

remember when 360 fans were shouting "BUT ITS THE ONLY CONSOLE UP YOY!" expecting the 360 to consistantly be up yoy even after a year of new price... yeah... about that...

Ps3 360 gap almost back to the start of Ps3's launch. One more week.

WOW

@leo-j

LMAO @ you

The Japanese reaction for the PSP GO was lukewarm, I expected PSP around 200K this week with a HUGE japanese boost

It didn't match my expectations this week, hence bad, while 360 surpassed em this week by increasing by much more than I thought

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

PS3 UP again... 2 months in a row people.

Darth just because you expected it doesnt mean its doing bad. It just means you have horrible expectations. It doubled Japanese sales and thats fantastic. Hell if the 360 got to 6k in Japan people would hoot and holler all week till it drop back below 5k.

PS3 got a 30k adjustment on last weeks sales, nice.

Good numbers all round.

What caused the big 360 boost?

9% isn't really a boost. It's just regular fluctuation.

Meh, a boost is a boost.

@darth...

PSP Go released in Japan 1st November. These numbers are for week ending 31st October.

I'm beginning to think the Wii and DS have peaked, particularly the Wii. Even with a price cut, it can't manage last year's numbers. It will sell for many years to come, but the chance of its crossing the PS2 is decreasing. The DS will, of course, breeze past the PS2. But it's even fallen below the Wii now. No matter, a hardware revision or two and a price cut will get things back on track, and it still outpaces the PSP by a fair bit.

The PS2 is dropping massively. Down 53% YoY? I suppose it's 9 years old, but why the sudden drop from 2008 to 2009? Lack of quality software?

PS3 is doing relatively well, up YoY. The price cut + Slim seem to have had a lasting effect rather than just a small boost, and have done a lot more to push hardware than the late 2007 price cut + 40GB. 2009 > 2008 > 2007 in sales, which is a good sign.

X360 isn't doing fantastically, but of course a price cut could change all of that. Not for a while, though. And I doubt Natal will push much hardware.

PSP isn't doing too abysmally, but sales aren't great, either. Even with the quality software it's seeing now that didn't get in these amounts last year.

Look kantor, the DS may have peaked, but it ebtter have, the things been out AGES

If wii has peaked this early its a SHOCK, I am not willing to accept the market leader has peaked in the second year

@somini

nowadays ioi makes a NEWS STORY on the numbers, I posted them as soona s I saw the news story....the numbers he puts in the NEWS STORY are int he form of that table thats near the bottom of the OP

so I didn't post it before numbers were up

I suppose the DS should peak around here: the Game Boy/Colour sold for a good 12 years, and the DS should do the same. But a console usually peaks halfway through its lifespan, or slightly earlier.

The Wii, market leader or not, has peaked. It sold more in 2008 than in 2009 with a $50 price cut. It's not going to die soon, or anything silly like that, but sales will decrease from now on. The PS2 peaked relatively early as well, I suppose. It depends on how the Wii sells these next few years.

Nice numbers overall.

Wait, am I blind or was Wii numbers adjusted...up? I could've sworn it were at 54.99m last week and now it's at 55.64m?

not for japan, japan is always tracked a day ahead compared to the others, Japenese SOFTWARE is up & its says for week ending "1st november"

@Leo-j

I know that, but look at the 1st day sales of DSi, PSP-3000 & so on

I am just not impressed, frankly disappointed.

@letsdance

The sales are bad compared to my expecations based on past re-design hardware bumps in Japan

Meh for Ratchet. It's like a slap in the face of Insomniac, but other Ratchet games legged it, so this will too.

Uncharted 2 doing very well. 2 million this year, surely!

And compare this at how long it took Drake's Fortune to reach that!
