Tell me the last time you read a modern vampire book (that was worth a damn) where vampires were symbols of illicit sex that were plainly hated by God (weak to symbols of the cross, flinched at His name, etc.)

It takes an extraordinary amount of epic fail to make vampiers AND werewolves into utter pussies in a single shot. Kudos to Meyer for reachign such heights of just... honestly there's a stream of adjectives which may jsut get me banned so i'll jsut stick with "fail."

The fact that you have to ask kind of proves my point.

Though I admit the Vampire Hunter D novels can be pretty great. They're kind of like a Japanese version of Conan, only it's about a dhampir instead of a Cimmerian. Soriku might love the Hell out of those books, actually - they're kind of kitschy but fun as Hell. Great post-apocalyptic vampire pulp with the baddest character to ever come out of Japan.
