Anyhow, I was kidding about the soriku comment, even though he admitted he was a fanboy because Kingdom hearts 3 is rumored to be on wii (according to him).

In anycase, Wii sales are dropping weekly, but ps3 hardware went up last week based on famitsu, so its possible wii may take another small dip, and its LIKELY ps3 hardware will go up again, this means the ps3 should OFFICIALLY be the top selling console of the year so far.

A PS3 spike this week is pretty likely thanks to WE2010.  After that though it's pretty barren until FFXIII, while Wii has a ton of surefire sellers in between (Taiko Wii 2, Tales of Graces, Sengoku Musou 3, NSMB Wii, PokePark, Mario & Sonic 2, Crystal Bearers).

Wii (Market leader) also got a pricecut, and has had 3 of its biggest games this gen all release.

Can the year end before we say which outsold which for whatever reason. This is like two years all over again, when PS3 beat Wii for a month all over again.

I assume wii sport resort and wii fit plus....but wouldn't it be safe to assume those two are catering to the same market as before, since they are pretty much the same game.

If these numbers turn out to be true (and it isn't a stretch to think they will), Wii will have been beaten on it's home turf in yearly sales for the first time ever. That should definitely serve as a wake up call for Nintendo. Let's hope it lights a fire under them and gets them to release some better software! Goes to prove you can't rely on the casual audience alone.

 

Gratz to the PS3. They deserve the accomplishment and some respect this year. Sony has indeed been working hard.

I will however now reply is a snickering form the bolded comment. "Goes to prove...." Well that's all fine and dandy, but I think we all know where 360 and PS3 which in fact relied solely on the enthuiast market. It let Nintendo sky rocket past them. In fact Nintendo made so much money that the other companies are playing massive catchup. Nintendo did not rely on "casuals"(gotta love the derogitory term). Animal Crossing was never considered "casual" on past releases. Brawl, SMG, Crisis, Metroid.... I think the fact of the matter is Dustin is just an individual who likely got into VG in the PS era and is now acting like Nintendo fans during the rise of the PS1.

Anyways I do think Sony deserves a pat on the back, and a kick in the butt just to make sure they remember 2006-2008 behaviour.



Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.
