GO GO Freeman!

It's VERY hard to bea Gordon Freeman as the biggest badass. I mean... I can't even think of a way to do it. Not even JC Denton can be as awesome.

what's wrong with freeman beating link? How could anyone consider link to be any more a character than gordon freeman?
Half life sold 11million. Half life 2 somewhere around 7million, would surely be higher without the rapid onslaught of piracy. Not to mention the episodes which are both great games.

Half-life was incredibly revolutionary, and so was half-life 2. Gordon freeman is a perfect example of a character who doesn't stick to the typical mold, which link does. Hes much more unique, much more believable, and is involved in a story that is arguably significantly better.

Both such great characters.

However im inclined to go with freeman, hes somewhat of an enigma!

Plus he's a rogue theoretical physicist with a crowbar :P you just cant beat that!

No, they are some of the worst characters in video game history :)

They don't have any characterization, personality, backstory, nothing.

However, they are great ICONS for gaming, and this is, eventually, what this contest is all about.

Actually Gordon Freeman has more backstory and personality than most characters out there. It's jsut that you aren't told about it you are shown. The way it should be, not by 10 hours of cut-scenes.
