Forums - Sales - Wii Fit Plus - Hit or Miss?

@.jayderyu: What's most likely pulling people to this game, is the multiplayer that the first didn't have. Also, the bargain price doesn't hurt.

HIT.
Like all the best Wii games, it can appeal to a huge share of "casuals", "not gamers", etc, it's aimed also as a fitness tool, and finally, it can appeal to "traditional" and "hardcore" gamers too, offering them a quick and easy distraction, a party amusement, a living room gym, etc: Wii, despite what haters say, has a respectable market also as secondary platform for PC and other consoles gamers, and Wii Fit Plus, just like Wii Fit, perfectly fits (forgive my awful pun) its role in Wii's appeal for all these cathegories.

Stwike him, Centuwion. Stwike him vewy wuffly! (Pontius Pilate, "Life of Brian")
A fart without stink is like a sky without stars.
TGS, Third Grade Shooter: brand new genre invented by Kevin Butler exclusively for Natal WiiToo Kinect. PEW! PEW-PEW-PEW!

A definite hit.

As to why even many people who have stopped using Wii Fit will pick this up, very simple - many may have stopped using Wii Fit regularly because you couldn't create a regular workout schedule, and becsuse of all the menu wandering you had to do when switching between exercises. This is a thing of the past with Wii Fit+.

Currently Playing: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked, Professor Layton and the Curious Village

Anticipating: Xenoblade, The Last Story, Mario Kart 7, Rayman Origins, Zelda SS, Crush3D, Tales of the Abyss 3DS, MGS:Snake Eater 3DS, RE:Revelations, Time Travellers, Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney, Luigi's Mansion 2, MH TriG, DQ Monsters, Heroes of Ruin

Well, it has "Wii" in the name, and "fit" has proven itself to be a huge seller. But, to sell more than New Super Mario Bros Wii, "wii" and "fit" and the untested "plus" will have to outweight "New" + "super" + "mario" + "bros"

Could be difficult. It all comes down to how much "plus" is worth.

This will be a true test of "plus".

Motion 'plus' has clearly done well selling at a rate of 2:1 to WSR at launch but it did have a game bundled with it. Did you buy 'plus' for WSR or WSR for 'plus'?

It's my understanding that Wii Fit 'plus' doesn't use motion 'plus' therefore 'plus' will be selling on the 'plus' brand without motion 'plus'.

If it sells less than Wii Fit the word 'plus' should be used with caution.

If it sells more than Wii Fit then 'plus' should be used for all games.

New Super Mario Bros Wii Plus could be the first game to hit 100 million.

Nov 2016 - NES outsells PS1 (JP)

Don't Play Stationary 4 ever. Switch!

Hit. It's only $20 as a stand alone game.

Also, people that don't have the Balance Board that want one will buy Wii Fit Plus over Wii Fit. The word Plus = sales.

WiiFit+ should have been the game that WiiFit was. Since as many have said a replacement I find it difficult that the primary consumer will pick this up since it's incremental. Nintendos own use of BOS says that people don't buy a product after it becomes good enough. So was WiiFit good enough?

Wii Fit is also a disruptive product though. As a Fitness product, it's extremely low-end. By making a fitness product with new values and bringing it upmarket, it can disrupt the fitness industry (which as a whole is bigger than the games industry, that's why there's so much potential in fitness gaming).

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.
