Of course government can put away the Playstation, just add a 1000% import tariff on it :P

It's really good that he is putting the responsibility on the parents instead of the games. Must be a first for a politician. Go Obama!

I LOVE ICELAND!

goverment cant put away the playstation but the playstation can put away the goverment

I appreciate that Obama doesn't believe that the government should act as a full-blown nanny but I don't like how he's demonizing gaming. Obviously if gaming is getting into the way of school and their health (lack of exercise), then yeah it would make sense for parents to cut them off. But if kids want to game on their free-time and it's not getting in the way of exercise, school, etc., why not?

Another thing I see is that gaming is blamed for hindering social skills in children. Haven't they thought that it's the other way around? That kids with low social skills (especially those with Asperger's or other autism-spectrum disorders as they tend to seem socially awkward to other children) gravitate more towards gaming because they feel uncomfortable in social situations and don't want to get bullied? (ok sure you can get bullied on XBL and PSN but it's not the same being slurred by an anon who doesn't know you compared to being bullied in school or on facebook, myspace, youtube, etc. talking trash about the person on a public area for the whole world to see). You can't just make the assumption that gaming is the root of all these issues.

"Government can't put away the PlayStation"

Damn, that such a better quote than the xbox one. It makes it sound like Playstation is invincible and capable of destroying everything. Like it's a giant monster with the power to level a city. Or that it has the ability to microwave a hotpoket and not have to let it cool down for minute before consumption.

Then again, it does everything...

Damn! Xbox isn't the standard console in this generation anymore.

lol, who was the one who said that ?

A couple of us here on VGC (selnor I think) - cause the console that the President refers to should be the standard console, right?

That explains it...

Actually i think it was Kowenicki

you guys owe selnor an apology

Yes, you are right. Good memory!  It was Kowenicki. (Sorry selnor.)

I think this is a confirmation that Obama is a console war observer as well. He read what gamers say about his speeches ;p.
