Forums - Gaming - Namco Dev EXPLAINS why TOV was a Timed 360 Exclusive (SHOCK)!

People can say what they want about MS in this scenario, but it sounds like they did what they had to do to get JRPG's on the 360. And there are many 360 owners that are grateful for it.

I meant smart business generally... have you seen recent sony figures?

I have actually, and the fact that they are an experienced hw company is what is driving there smart business recently. They messed up early in this gen, but since have been more proactive in correcting those mistakes. Like reducing internal cost,combining dev sudios, better marketing lately. An unsmart business would not be able to come back from the 06/07 disaster launch. There not great but getting better.

The same can be said for MS, they knew they needed this support in japan to make a dent in that region and they did just that. They doubled there original install base with these new timed exclusive deals. They made a hardware that wasn't ready for launch and overheated  x amount % of the time. But they were smart about it, and plugged away at it with new designs and lowered the chances of Rrod.

My point is they both know what there doing in  terms of smart business sense and they both have shown that..

What's the SHOCK part? We knew this long ago, noting new at all.

The shock was that everyone's evil

Namco for wanting money

MS for using money as bait

SONY for requesting extra content

Shocking?

Wait until you hear some Tri-Ace developers talk about SO4 port.

It (PS3's market share) might hit 30%, but definently not more. ~ Neo

There are also plenty who are pissed off that PS3 gets the much better version.

@Darth
The petition against ToV shows that not all 360 fans are "greatful" for it.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

This is why Sony is the number one gaming company, smart business.

Number one gaming company?  Correct me if I'm wrong isn't the Wii and 360 ahead of the PS3 right now?

Smart business?  How many billions have Sony lost since the PS3 launch?

PS1, PS2, PSP and soon to be PS3

10 year plan will fix all, they knew what they were getting themselves into.

You seem to forget that Microsoft has an 11 year plan themselves.

Eh I dunno about that Star Ocean 4 uses the Infinite Undiscovery engine that MS funded, and even if it was what's the big deal. Valkyria Chronicles was originally a 360 exclusive. I'd say PS3 owners got the better end of the stick in the trade.

So I gotta ask PS3 only owners:

Would you rather wait a year and get extra content, or have a game day one?

I know MS will never see MGS4 in their hands, but was there no envy from the PS3 fan base when we got Tales or Star Ocean?

I mean your still waiting a year and still paying full price even if it has extra content.

Doesn't seem worth it to me unless you only own a PS3, but if you really wanted to get the game you would have bought a 360 already... unless your in Japan?

It's just that simple.

@Kowenicki

Ergh what are you talking about

SONY is a very smart company......they are not where they are because they are dumb.

ALSO even at this instance if they were dumb, you would see SONY in a worse position

Sony requested extra content without paying for it. There is a difference. Microsoft at least pays for what they get. Sony demands you do it out of loyalty, because they wont fork out a cent for it.  Microsoft got screwed because essentially they've just paid for exclusive content in the Sony version. Japan will blindly follow Sony wherever they go, so Microsoft needs to drop support of them and focus on Europe.
