This man is correct.

Prime 3 was the weakest, really? Why is that? I always thought that it was worse than Prime 1 because of that "wow" factor of jumpin into 3D for the first time, but that it is better than 2.

Prime 3 is the weakest because like Fusion it was fairly linear (which I hate in Metroids) and for the most part had very bland and boring bosses. Which is not to say it's a complete waste of time, mind you: it's still a damned fine game. And it had some spectacular moments. But the only reason I do rate it above Prime 2 is that its controls are so great. Of course, once the other two get those same controls...

Prime 2 gets slammed because it did some things very, very wrong, but it was still a better game overall than Corruption. When you play it, stick with it: the beginning is off-putting, but it continues to improve until the end. The last area in particular was a real treat. Now if only they made the rest of the game have that quality...

Sorry, but I must disagree.  Prime 1 > Prime 3 > Prime 2.

This.

Plus I am sorry but I can't take someone serious saying 3 was the weakest when they hated Super metroid and dares call themself Samus Aran.

I don't get the "prime 3 is fairly linear" argument. To me, linear means you walk down one tunnel, with only one possible exit, and that leads to the next tunnel, with only one possible exit, and so forth.

I fail to see where that happened in Prime 3. If people were going to gripe about Prime 3, I would have thought it'd be about the weapons system, since that seems like something you could actually debate.

Oh, and Prime 2 was good. Definitly hard. I agree with Kylie to some degree, but I still really liked the game a lot. The dark zones were spooky, and I think it will be fun to play again with i.r. controls.

HATING OPHELIA- Coming soon from Markosia Comics!

the people who call prime 3 linear are the ones who didn't turn off the advice system, otherwise its as non-linear as prime 1(no game is like super metroid though)

again just like residenti evil, traditionalist defend the first 5 games(code veronica and zero not 4 and 5) and people who don't mind change would mostly tell you that RE4 is one of the best if not the second best, besides REmake.

metroid is exactly the same, traditionalist defend the more isolation, more puzzles, less combat, but those who don't mind change will undoubtly tell you prime 3 is the best besides super metroid. change is not bad, having the same fucking formula for all your games IS.

MP3 is linear in the respect thats its a metroid game. The intial Metroids place you in a giant world, and leave up to you to find out what the hell is going on. This obviously isnt the case in MP3.

@Klyedog
Im sure most RE fans wouldnt calk RE4, let alone RE5, real Resident Evil games. The same can be said with Metroid fans and MP3/Hunters.

I agree that most Nintendo games are far behind industry standards, and that the Prime games (specifically Echoes) would benifit from it.

I will say that the very premise of Metroid games revolve around backtracking. Explore an area, find power ups, move on, repeat, then return to previous section with new abilities. If you think otherwise, YOU fail.

For the record, I always turn off the hint system in the Prime series. In MP3, the damn cut sceens tell you where to go, its unavoidable.

I DO think SM is the best in the series (followed closely by Prime 1), but MP3 is quite different from it.

This.  I was going to type almost exactly this earlier, but got side-tracked.

I have played all three multiple times on all difficulty levels and i (and i'm obviously not alone) actually like that they changed the formula up a little in the third game.  Also a big part of what makes Metroid games great is atmosphere and art and to be honest in the second game the atmosphere wasn't that enjoyable and the art just wasn't as good.

you know you can skip cutscenes, all of them.

Yes, but after every seed was destroyed, in-game consersations, and other times information is forced unto you. The cutsceens are skipable, but information given by the Aurora Unit or other random characters isnt.

For me it goes MP1 > MP2 > MP3

But MP2 is just barely better than MP3. Both fall way, way short of MP1 though, which is just an unbelievable experience and my personal favorite game ever. Level design, graphics, weapons, puzzles, and the methods of storytelling were all just simply amazing. MP2 was solid although it didn't really do anything new (the new visors were cool but underutilized). The ammo system was slightly annoying and the use of light/dark worlds was a weakness, Nintendo likes to use that game mechanic in place of new and more creative ideas. And like others have mentioned MP3 didn't necessarily feel like a Metroid Prime game, although I'm ok with that because they needed to mix it up a little bit. What I have a problem with is, basically, how uninspired the game felt compared to the previous 2. Almost like they were just going through the motions to push out a Prime title for the Wii. The controls of course were awesome, and Bryyo was amazing and they should've done more with that planet. The Pirate homeland was also pretty cool but other than those two the level design was lacking.
