MP3 is linear in the respect thats its a metroid game. The intial Metroids place you in a giant world, and leave up to you to find out what the hell is going on. This obviously isnt the case in MP3.

Im sure most RE fans wouldnt calk RE4, let alone RE5, real Resident Evil games. The same can be said with Metroid fans and MP3/Hunters.
I agree that most Nintendo games are far behind industry standards, and that the Prime games (specifically Echoes) would benifit from it.
I will say that the very premise of Metroid games revolve around backtracking. Explore an area, find power ups, move on, repeat, then return to previous section with new abilities. If you think otherwise, YOU fail.
