the people who call prime 3 linear are the ones who didn't turn off the advice system, otherwise its as non-linear as prime 1(no game is like super metroid though)
again just like residenti evil, traditionalist defend the first 5 games(code veronica and zero not 4 and 5) and people who don't mind change would mostly tell you that RE4 is one of the best if not the second best, besides REmake.
metroid is exactly the same, traditionalist defend the more isolation, more puzzles, less combat, but those who don't mind change will undoubtly tell you prime 3 is the best besides super metroid. change is not bad, having the same fucking formula for all your games IS.
