Is this this weeks "Wii is doomed" thread? or did I missed another one?

http://vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=78379

On topic: So any new info from ioi? In another thread he said that those UK numbers are wrong, but without giving any explanation.

TBH......it was probably a quick reaction

I mean ALL OF US thought it was FAKE at first

So they are confirmed to be real now? Do me a favor and give me a link, because I am too lazy to search through the forums right now.

We have two sources quoting different information based on GfK data. Unless GfK come out and say they made a mistake then I fail to see how we can confirm this short of waiting for any official comment which may be forthcoming or not.

I am also skeptical as this was unexpected although some anecdotal evidence may of pointed to this it is fair to say nobody predicted this kind of swing (Time for the BBC swingometer montage again).

Red- In the UK.

Blue- Grand Theft Auto 4, Devil May Cry 4 and Metal Gear Solid 4(PS3)

Green- His point is that Wii sales are dying down... in now multiple places, and being outsold (double) by its closest competitor. Just because hes asking if the Wii is starting to die down, dosent make him a troll, get a grip.

RED - not accurate for YoY, see my later post,  Wii sold 2.3 to the 360 1.7 mil, YoY (June 08 to June 09)

Blue - Also addressed, DMC4 did not move consoles much at all, GTA4 kept the systems in the 100s, but now have fallen to the 50's 60s, so the dropoff is approx 50% from what gta4 boost did.

Green - Refer to red, and you'll see that the Wii sales are not slowing down any more so than 360 sales are (wii yoy to xb360 difference at 600k in Wii favor). He's not asking if Wii sales are dying, he's stating it, making it troll bait.

Sigh...

Red- Its in the past 6 months that 360 sold 600k units, Wii sold 300k units and PS3 sold 300k units.

Blue- I dont get what you are saying, but id just like to add that GTA4 was the biggest entertainment launch... in history.

Green- They must be slowing down if they only did 300k in 6 months. Compared to the 2Million the previous 6 months.

Read the thread title... is that a question you see? And if you cant see that, read the OP where in the last sentence he says...

"Is Wii's bubble bursting?"

I don't know how this could've gone unnoticed here for the entire year.

I figure ioi would've caught notice of something like this months ago.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

I don't know if PS360 are bringing in "new" people

they are just getting more of the PS2 owners who like traditional games, while wii is really bringing actual new people in

Whats to say old PS2 gamers arent getting a Wii? There is no proof that any console has brougth new people other than hardware numbers.

Its quite possible the xbox 360 could have brought more new people in than the Wii, but we cant prove that now can we.

PS2 is the only console bringing "new" people in if we go by hardware numbers, but even then that makes no sense. All in all its actually every console bringing new people in not just the Wii.

"Is Wii's bubble bursting?"

Red - He stated YoY, you can't do a 6 month Year over Year, because, well it's not a YEAR. =) I understand and addressed the point of the HD systems having more games in the "lull period" of the fiscal year, and said the slowdown was due to a very lackluster library, which the both of you refuted with DMC4 and GTA4 info, as if that meant something, which brings me to Blue...

Blue - Yes, exactly, GTA4 was a big game, and it sold many pieces of hardware. This year, HD system sales dropped down under 100k, right after RE5 came out. In other words, the GTA4 was a boost for its time period, but the HD systems had  a -50% YoY since then. Last year in the same discussed time period, Wii Fit and Mario Kart were the big Wii sellers, pushing the HW. So with that, ALL the systems are faced with a YoY slowdown, Wii due to a lack of games, and the HD systems, even with a few big titles like RE5. Economy reigns over all, which was my point from the start.

Green - Again, yes there has been a slowdown, between the economy and a lackluster library, where the prior year had some top-sellers, especially with a big title like Wii Fit which expanded the market in a whole new direction. Yet, irregardless of what's been going on YoY, the Wii still is managing to outsell the HD systems (often even combined) in the Others region on a weekly basis. So, if the Wii is faced with a slowdown, and the HD systems aren't catching up, they are faced with a slowdown to. Like I said, the economy reigns over all.

As for the thread title, etc thats Psych 101 - passive-aggressive communication. It translates down to "Wii sales are slowing down. Discuss" You can paint barbed wire pink, it still has sharp barbs.

so basically no one noticed it for a few months then BAM it's a big news.

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

Is the bubble bursting like a kid's blow bubble on your new rug? That would be bad.

Or is the bubble bursting like Bubblicious bubble gum in your mouth? That would be very tasty and a good thing.

Are you telling me that the Wii's sales are slowing a little bit after three years? Imagine that.
