Forums - Sales - R&C:F Crack in Time - will it reach 1 million?

The R&C games traditionally sell over 1 million copies. But they also have a steady decline in sales as well. The last retail R&C game on Ps3 only sold 1.5 million. Nothing outstanding. You can make the argument that there was a smaller user base back then.... but the game had much less competition from other games on Ps3 at the time as well.

IMO R&C ACIT is already getting lost amongst the other Ps3 exclusives coming up, most notably Uncharted2 and MAG. Just imagine putting it up against AC2, MW2, Tekken 6, and all the other heavy hitters coming out Q4. I think this will be the first retail R&C game that does NOT sell over 1 million.

Quest for Booty, Size Matters (PS2 version)?

Though it is up against stiff competition and surely will lose some sales because gamers will be spending money on those games and don't have enough for all games, I believe that R&C will not only sell 1 mill but will outsell the original R&C game. I don't believe those games you listed will effect the sales of R&C that much because they are targeted at a different demographic. Though there may be a bunch of overlapping in demographic the R&C game really appeals to a younger audience than MAG and even Uncharted.

With the growth of the userbase it not only increases the overall potential purchasers but I believe the younger audience is a much slower adopter to a new console, especially a PS3 with it's intial price. They generally dont have the funds to buy a console on their own and they have to wait for a low enough price that their parents will be willing to spend as a gift. So since the last release of a disc based game the increased userbase will help, but more importantly I believe a younger audience will help much more.

Also what i believe tools of destruction lacked that I believe will help this R&C sell is the addition of multiplayer. I am not sure to what extent it will be added but I am pretty sure there will be an option for Co-op which will help the appeal of this game. Deadlocked was the first R&C game I played(long after it's release) and it's co-op is what got me into the franchise.

I think a much bigger effect on the sales will be which licensed games come out for the holiday. Games like shrek, spiderman, Wall-E and whatever younger kids may be interested in or gift purchasers may be suckered into buying because of the licensed characters. If it's a strong licensed line up this holiday then it may suffer, but if it is relatively weak then R&C will sell significantly greater.

I am confident R&C ACIT will sell over 2 million plus. A must buy for me.

i feel ratchet will sell more than the last game. may be over a longer time but it will sell more, its looking good.

It will sell more than a million, Sony published games almost always get bundled which will help a little too, don't expect a fast trip to a million but it should certainly reach it.

It'll definitely cross a million. Ratchet and Clank is a reasonably popular series, and really, if people bought ToD over Uncharted, Modern Warfare and Assassin's Creed (or bought all four, like I did- well, I didn't actually buy AC, it was a gift), then they would buy A Crack in Time instead of or alongside Uncharted 2, Modern Warfare 2, and Assassin's Creed 2 (which I don't expect to sell as well as the original).

The PS3's userbase is larger now, and yes, userbase does matter, when you are talking about a tiny userbase like the 6 million or so the PS3 had at Tools of Destruction's release versus the 26 or so million that it will have at Crack in Time's release. Back in 2007, the PS3 sold abysmally every week, and was considered a failure console with no games, and a ridiculously high price tag. Also, ToD and Q4B built up an R&C fanbase on PS3. A PS3 price cut should happen around Crack in Time's launch. Not to mention, Crack in Time will be longer, have more game modes (including online) and will have DR. NEFARIOUS!*

*For those of you not awesome enough to have played R&C 3, Dr. Nefarious is the best Ratchet and Clank villain, and definitely one of the best villains of all time. R&C3 is the most critically acclaimed AND best selling Ratchet and Clank.

It has a shot at 2 million, but 1 million is guaranteed.

I think it will sell a million, but even if it missed a million on sales alone, this is the generation where everyfuckingthing gets bundled. So yes, absolutely.

1 million is guaranteed, but how much more than 1 million it will sell, I have no clue

Can't see it making 2 million unless it's bundled.

Will definitely surpass 1 million, however. That much is unquestionable.
