much much MUCH better of a list...although i would add wii sports.

Awesome list twesterm. One of the best I've seen here, and it's always refreshing to see people mention the innovation of games like Rogue, Asteroids, and the original Prince of Persia. Only things I noticed missing was Donkey Kong and Ocarina of Time, and maybe Microsoft Flight Simulator, Duck Hunt, and Dance Dance Revolution.

Although FFVII is arguably one of the best games ever, It didn't introduce anything new.

But many of these games are on here for having a large impact or for being great games.  I have a hard time believing someone thinks FFVII didn't have a large impact.  Therefore it should probably be on the list.

...

Thank god. Saw that other list earlier and almost cried.

Good list.

nope but this introduced the rest of the world to RPGS... Fact RPGS was not mainstream till this game came out.

this game should be on the list

Counter Strike, a mod game turned full release thanks to tools the dev provided for Half Life. Arguably the greatest online shooter and is still being played even now.

Also Half Life itself as a game that revolutionized FPS story telling. It also spawned CS, TF, Blue Shift which were great games too thanks to the good mod support.

Mario 64 - Proof that platforming and 3D worked

Sonic The Hedgehog - Single handedly built a companies reputation around the games mascot and it's "cool and speed".

The clue is in the title "VII", RPG's had been mainstream before it, probably you just didn't want to play them.

What about the first SRPG? (Fire Emblem? I'm not sure)

Crusty VGchartz old timer who sporadically returns & posts. Let's debate nebulous shit and expand our perpectives. Or whatever.

Name 3 what had anywhere near the impact FF7 had.
