pristine...stop comparing PS3 to PS2 man, your only gonna put yourself at risk again if you keep using " but my PS2.." argument

My next one will be backed up every 2 days lol. I know ps3 is waay more complex, I'm just saying that failure isn't something that should be excused/accepted.

I'm sorry your PS3 broke, this isn't fair you have to pay again for it to be fixed, I would bug the living hell out of Sony.

This is not goina be very well accepted.

Damage control will follow shortly.

And you should bitch the living fuck out of Sony so they might fix it for free or something....unlikely, but you never know till you try.  I feel for you....its never fun having broken consoles.

I tried. Dude keeps talking policy, policy, policy...they can't even guarantee I'll get the same console back which is more important than anything else. I've always hated corporations but now...I can't descibe the hatred. Due to the lack of individuality in the process, no one can feel your pain. People just operate robotically.

That's what is scaring me.  At the moment my PS3 is running louder than my old jet engine 360 ever did and it is still having the problem where sometimes it just doesn't want to recognize any of my BlueTooth devices so I'm guessing it's only a matter of time before it breaks.

you are backing up your data right??....if your PS3 does break you'll only have yourself to blame if you lose everything

What will I lose?  I don't really have KZ2 stats or any other multiplayer stats and don't have anything on my hard drive except save games, Megaman 9, and SFIITurbo.

Will I lose trophy data?

Just curious (only read the 1st 3 pages)  But, does your PS3 have room to itself where it can't overheat?  Is it sitting on carpet (not supposed to)?  Are you dusting it off?  When you turn it off, do you wait for the green light to turn red, and then switch off the breaker in the back of the console?  Turning turning the switch in the back before the PS3 is ready will mess it up.

If it's breaking often, it just could be you, and not the PS3.  I know the same thing goes for the 360 (I unplugged it accidentally, and it got RRoD).  Luckly for me, my 360 cured itself of RRoD.  Happened like.. 5 months ago, and hasn't happened again.

Just take care of it, and READ THE MANUAL that came with the system.  It doesn't hurt to read it once, or twice.  Sit the system somewhere in the open off the carpet, and don't let it overheat.  There also could be a small chance that it's the PS3 that's just defective and just simply needs to be completely replaced.

Just read your last post about heat.. Well, if you're too lazy to turn your system off, you must like wasting 160 bucks.  What's the point in leaving the system on if you're not going to be there to use it anyway?  Let's say the power goes out with your comp on, and it turn back on only to burn out the power pack.. happened to me, and I thought the entire thing was dead...  It cost 200 dollars to get a replacement, and no, I didn't learn my lesson because I still leave it on.. But, not the game systems.. those go off when I'm finished with them.

Just stop leaving the PS3 on, it only takes 3 seconds to get from intro screen to XMB... My comp however takes a few minutes...

pristine how is ur playing habits???...i ask because i notice you play KZ2 like 24/7 or pretty close to that, that would definitely contribute to overheat features

I play a lot. Always did. played ps2 a lot, ps1 a lot....nothing broke. I just tuned on my ps3 to play devil summoner 2 and it went off after 5 mins and never came back on.

Sega genesis had overheating issues but c'mon this is 2009...we still have this problem? The console isn't hot...the problem is that it thinks that it's hot when it's not. Overengineering perhaps?

i highly suggest giving breaks inbetween( full shut down), higher techs mean higher risk which is contrary to popular belief..and cant compare a PS1&2 to 3

computers are higher tech too yet they somehow stay on for days. It isn't in a cramped space or hot either. It's on a table by itself with a fan next to it. Like the tech said, the problem is that the system thinks it's hot when it really isn't so to avoid burning your house, it shuts itself down...sounds like an engineering issue to me.

You've got to remember that your computer, although on for days at a time, spends most of it's time idling, so it doens't generate that much heat. Try playing a console for 4 hours, then try playing crysis for 4 hours. I guarantee there will be hot air coming out of your computer as well as the console. Unfortunately you just got unlucky here. With 20+million ps3's out there, some of them are going to break :/
