plz respond to me and explain it again :

Kratos attacks Athene for no reason, Athena decide to punish him

WHERE is it said that zeus destroyed Sparta ?

Kratos attacked the island and city of Rhodes, and not to challenge Zeus, for no reason, but because he was doing his job as the God of War and helping the conquest of Spartans (not to say that Kratos should have knew that the gods dissaproved and considered them, but at this point he didn't care about the gods, due to them not freeing him of his pains in GOW I, and being used like a tool in Chains).

You hear about Sparta being destroyed after you mortally wound the "mysterious enemy" (the captain from Sparta)

Not to say Kratos is justified or a very sympathethic character. However you do feel some sympathy towards him, as well as some anger, or rather, pity for his tragic flaws that have haunted him from the very beginning. (Abandoning his family for power, and now that he has become all powerful he cannot get them back. His inability to change the past. Being used by the Gods both Ares and the rest in Olympus, and his anger at how fate shaped his life and how they even can't do anything to stop his pain, suffering, and anger (nor him).

Kratos needs to either accept his sins and fate, and move on, but that itself is tough and arguably impossible. How do you move on from your own sins, especially when they're even physically symbolized (ashes on skin). How can you stop becoming a warrior, death itself, a god of war when you cannot even disarm yourself (Blades of Chaos/Athena).

I hope that if the game ends optimisticly, those 2 symbols will come off of him, and he will be freed, and perhaps he peacefully dies with his wife and child in Hades, maybe after killing the unsympathic gods and freeing everyone from their control of fate.

I have no problem with violence in games. but I'm not a huge fan of hack 'n slash games myself. I may rent the game, but I dunno if I'll end up buying it.

And as for pairing Kratos up with other videogame characters to see which will "win", that is sort of irrational. Anyone can make up a character to be stronger than another. We don't play Zelda or GoW just because a character is strong; that makes no sense.

hum,...

whatever has done Zeus later

At the start, Kratos was still kill Rhodes for NOTHING, (outside a blind anger)

tat is my point

?

Kratos was still answering the prayers and pleas of his followers, like a God should do, while Ares and Zeus simply destroyed cities for their own personal purposes.

Kratos had the choice to not answer those prayers and pleas, and his decission not to ignore them all, but instead grant them all is due to anger (but not unjustified anger). However he still technically did as he was supposed to, he acted as the God of War.

PS: Did you play the 2 PS2 games?

GOW III WILL BE AWESOME!!!

Akvod,

yes I played them
but
for some reasons, the second software was less interesting in a story point of view

sometimes, I got the impression I was killing people for nothing : this was particularly true at the start of the game when Kratos decided to attack Rhodes for no "real" reason ..

(also, if Kratos acted as the God of War, as he is supposed to do, WHY Zeus was angry about him ?)

Because Zeus thought that Kratos was going to dethrone him, like he did with Chronos... man you missed a lot of things, lol.

But, yeah, I agree, I think that GoW, storywise, should have ended with 1. But the story in GoW II was still great and kept in line with the theme, and if they can provide more of an conclusion, than a tragedy like they did in GoW 1, then it'll be great.

Also, from what I read from Chains of Olympus, you understand more why Kratos is mad at the gods in general, and their politics (the same politics that got Kratos in the situation at Rhodes).

BladeOfGod and Akvod

yeah, you are right, I missed a lot lol

thx you for the explanation, perhas, 1 day, I will try the psp game

That is why Kratos is the most badass mofo. What other game can you rip the head off a god with your bare hands. He was angry in the first game, he was furious in the second game. Now has come the point where he will make Zeus piss. Seriously...I watched that part about 20 times in a row when it first showed...then another 30 times later on.
