I think that people are overplaying it because it was the big PS3 game at Sony's conference.
I also believe that an MMO game should be played on PC. I don't know anyone who play's MMO's on a console. I think the sales of this game on the PS3 will be poor, except in Japan, and even there it won't be "huge".
Anyway, maybe I'm wrong, I just don't think that so many people are genuinely excited about a MMORPG, from Square-Enix. Not the type of people who would be on these forums anyway. |
Not all people like WoW you know? I, for example, dont. And unlike most people talking about it, I actually have played it for quiet awhile. And since when is Diablo 3 an MMORPG?
Seriously, not being excited for this game is fine. But at least get your facts straight, FFXI was (and is) a grand success and is much more popular than most MMO games out there. I dont see why this one would be any different.

Diablo III....well DII was pretty much an MMO. I don't think there was any other way to describe it. You fight bosses for loot, you increase your level. You can play by yourself or with friends. I'm pretty sure it's an MMO. if PSO was an MMO, I think Diablo III is. Anyway, maybe I'm wrong, however, DIII could be considered an MMO IMO.
Anyway, I guess man. I'm not trying to flame the game. However, I know that most people here...aren't big MMO fans, honestly, and I know almost everyone here, including myself, would much rather have had FFXIV be a single player jrpg exclusive to the PS3, than an MMO. IMO, it is worse than a spinoff because it bastardizes the very franchise it uses to gain its popularity.
That is just my opinion about it. I'm NOT here to flame, and I'm not flaming now. I just wanted to point out the hipocracy of some of the people pretending to care about MMOs now, and the fact that this game isn't exclusive afterall, which is 1/2 of the things that this topic seemed to be about, at the very least.
Now, some people played DII as a single player game, however you can never get the best loot without cheating that way. You also have no end game. World of Warcraft can also be played as a single player game. You just can't get the best loot without cheating. My mage hit 70, pretty much without grouping. What exactly is the difference between PSO, or WoW, and Diablo II?
