“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
| Soriku said: Eh...I think it might go down like this with this announcement. The normal conference happens and the big game turns out to be Pikmin 3 from Nintendo. They'll also showcase Wii Fit Plus, a bunch of M+ games, and possibly that Art Academy game. Everyone will say "NINTENDO BETRAYED UUUUUUUUUUUUUUSSSSS!" and then bickering commences, trolls come out of their shells, people will remind everyone there is another conference, and so on. Of course, they could surprise us with more. However I think the awesome third party games recently announced will take the stage more than anything unless Nintendo really do surprise us with this. The next conference will then begin and they'll announce some really good stuff, and probably more info on games from last October's conference. They might even usher the Japanese devs who are afraid of the swine flu to come over and announce some good stuff. Iwata already addressed the problem in Japan and I really doubt that'll go unattended. He did say they'd have several market moving titles by year's end. Anyway, I think this will be the better conference. |
That would be foolish of them though. E3 already gives them three days to peddle their wares, and nobody likes a cocktease. Doing things this way seems not only like a waste of resources, it seems outright counter-productive.
I hope not, this could mean they got too few things and are fearing a show like last year.
I hope not, E3 is the place to announce big stuff, not a private conference made for 3 people.

Bets with Conegamer:
Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.
If it's true, then I hope they announce the same games they do at E3.
I want Nintendo to have the best possible E3 this year. They should not hold anything off for Japan...imo

Add me for Pokemon, New Leaf, and Fire Emblem, Mario Kart 8.
The second event is for the Monlith x Matsuno RPG, it's a major worldwide announcement and they're really going to push it everywhere. This includes Japan. Kirby Wii will also get some focus.
Warning: the above was purely speculation.

It doesnt seem weird to you at all, come on, isnt it what TGS is for? This is just a bad rumor, seriously. |
Nintendo has never been to a TGS EVER and have said they will never be.

Guys you are missing something really obvious here:
Wii Sports Resort has no announced release date in Japan, just a month. It is coming out in June. Guess when June starts: soon.
Dollars to donuts, most of the big stuff will be at E3, and this Japan conference is to say "oh by the way Japan, Wii Sports Resort will be releasing on the following day in June..."
They make 80-90% of their money outside Japan, E3 is the event to focus on.
Nintendo would look weird saying at an American show "oh Wii Sports Resort releases June 10 in Japan"

True but it can't be just that.I also thinking thier going release news on some Japan only games to trigger consumer interests.
Because if it is really only to announce a date for resort it would a pretty unsound excuse to hold a conference.
