Also GT5 isn't going to sell 12 million. The demo GT5 Prologue sold just over 3 million. GT5 will probably sell closer to 8 million. FF XIII might sell over 12 million, mainly because it'll be on both the PS3 and XBox 360.

Next year during the holidays would be a perfect time, but with Sony already saying they would lose another $1 billion for fiscal 2009, I don't know where Sony will get the money to R&D a PS3 Slim, unless they've already started spending the money to do so and that's what caused them to lose $1.7 billion in fiscal 2008. So we'll see. No one know if Microsoft is redesigning the Xbox 360 or not as well. We may get an XBox 360 Slim in the future as well.

The PS3 Slim is definatly real theres no doubt about that anymore. After all lawyers threatened many websites (including Kotaku, Gamespot, etc.) for putting up pictures of it. Also I've noticed something that for sure seems like a good piece of evidence. Here in the US Sony has started rolling commercials where at the end instead of saying PlayStation 3 in the normal font in now says PS3 at the end in the exact same font as the cardboard box we saw in the leaked photos. THey did the same thing with PS2 and PSX which means its for sure coming.

I expect it to be announced at TGS at launched a couple weeks after that and of course boost sales of the console nicely. IF there is a price cut involved it could very well outsell the 360 this holiday.

I think that's crazy talk.  We're almost 6 months deep and the PS3 hasn't outsold the 360 world wide a single time this year.  To sell 2-3 million more units than the 360 would require like a 300% increase in sales starting now.  That's highly unlikely given that the thing has been selling worse year over year.

A. R&C has a good chance at 2million. These games are known for their sexy legs. R&CFToD is at 1.5 and just released as a greatest hit. B. MAG is a coin flip. one thing to take into consideration is who the devs are. they are the same people who made the very popular SOCOM. The other consideration however is online only. Which Warhawk. UT3, and SOCOM havent broke a million yet.(but SOCOM is very close and it doesnt include its DLs from PSN) C. Uncharted wasn't heavily bundled till fall of 08 when it was almost 2 million. there are tons of bundles in Europe because there are tons of sonys. a bundle in poland wont make a difference in total numbers. To the bolded part: Wouldn't it make more sense for Sony to manufacture a slim PS3 to replace the current model if they're losing money now? Smaller consoles mean less materials for the cooling, case etc. It may not seem like much but it all adds up. I remember when the PS3 first came out and people were doing estimates of the cost of the different components and the cooling unit came out relatively expensive.

OT: I agree with GOW III, Uncharted 2 and Heavy Rain (LT). I doubt GT5 will manage 12 million, probably >8 million, but I doubt above 10. MAG being online only will probably limit sales although it'll probably break 1million and I seriously doubt Ratchet and Clank to do above 2 million based on the sales of the previous PS3 outing.

...uh what makes you think billions will be needed to convert? the fact is the faster sony makes the slim the faster they start making money. Example Sony brings slim out in July for 399 and drops the thick one by 50 dollars to clear stock. It automatically will cause a slight demand with new modle and price reduction. on top of it all Sony would profit off every slim sold. Oct rolls around and Slim drops to 299. From July to Oct sony was selling at a profit now they sell at even and have their games rake in profit the healthy sony we all love and know is back. also how do you know the money they lost isnt already going to R&D For the slim? Also Sony said they'll lose 1bil not SCEI. SCEI could very well become profitable and Sony can still lose money

If the slim releases at the same price point as the current model than I highly doubt it would sell much more outside of Japan than current numbers indicate until probably the holidays. Perhaps a slim release with a $50 price cut on current models (as indicated in previous posts)......at most for the year, if even that.

@ Max.......I am just not convinced considering Sony's current financial situation that they would release a slim in July, drop the price of the original PS3 by $50, then in Oct drop the price of the slim $100. The $100 drop of the slim would require them to probably drop the remaining inventory of PS3 originals from $299 to $279 or something to that effect. That is really...really.....really reaching.
