If the slim releases at the same price point as the current model than I highly doubt it would sell much more outside of Japan than current numbers indicate until probably the holidays. Perhaps a slim release with a $50 price cut on current models (as indicated in previous posts)......at most for the year, if even that.
@ Max.......I am just not convinced considering Sony's current financial situation that they would release a slim in July, drop the price of the original PS3 by $50, then in Oct drop the price of the slim $100. The $100 drop of the slim would require them to probably drop the remaining inventory of PS3 originals from $299 to $279 or something to that effect. That is really...really.....really reaching.
Call me crazy but I enjoy both my 360 Elite and PS3 in there current state.......BIG.....BLACK.....and full of AWESOMESAUCE!
