If true it could stop a lot of RPG fans from buying a PS3 for Versus. I would expect any exclusive next gen Final Fantasy game to be a huge hardware shifter. Just look at what the FFXIII "demo" did to sales #'s in Japan.

As a PS3 fan I would like to see it stay exclusive. I like what GCI-Quality said with the exclusive games "shaping a console". If every console got all of the same games it wouldn't be as interesting to pick one console over another. And it would be pointless to own both. Although it would certainly eliminate a lot of fanboy wars which would be good. haha. As we know competition is healthy for the industry, people strive to do better. A one console monopoly would not be good (especially for price cuts).

In the end if Final Fantasy Versus XIII had to go multi-platform I wouldn't lose any sleep over it as long as the quality doesn't suffer... or the game doesn't get pushed back for a 'simultaneous release' date. If it does, then the biggest positive is more gamers will get to enjoy an awesome game.

I wonder if Square-Enix can keep one of their promises... for some people another exclusive lost from Square-Enix will be more personal. It's an issue of betrayal and trust of a company. And for some people boycotting the game!! I would never do THAT.

Why should Square-Enix have any allegiance to anyone? They're a 3rd party publisher. Fact is Sony can't dominate the competetion when they don't have an unfair advantage in third party support like they did on the PS1 and PS2. It's not Square-Enix's job to prop up a third place company.

Exclusives should be provided by the console maker, most games on the SNES-Genesis era were multiplatform as well yet neither system had any problem forging their own identity because they had system-defining 1st party exclusives.

Because Sony own like 9% of them? Or because Sony had some sort of contract with them, which they ripped up (this is rumoured)

Would be a real dick move seeing as how in the FFVII:ACC BluRay they had a Versus trailer which said "Available on PS3 ONLY" at the end.

I also predict that if this happens you will have many PS3 fanboys who cared about the game say they no longer care and that S-E sucks while plenty of XBots who say they couldn't care less about this title taking the opportunity to gloat about it and rub it in PS3 fanboys faces.

Me, I wouldn't care. I will still pick it up on PS3.

Usually I'm for multiplat, but in this case I'll be angry that I'll most likely have to wait longer for the release.

Happy because then I'd get to play it aswell.

I wouldn't really mind. I'm not even sure if I'm gonna get FF XIII so yeah. We'll see. I do like the darker atmosphere of Versus more though.
