Of course they can't control what their employees say. But employees don't say something like this just out of nowhere. I think it's likely that there is a certain notion in the team of this guy that encouraged him. If his team had a completely different point of view, I doubt he'd made that statement. And at least what's going on in the team Capcom has influence on.

That's not a point of view. That's just being factually wrong. Nor does that mean the whole team thinks that. You're still assuming his statement means wider things than it actually implies.

He speficically ued the word "I", not "us" or "we", not "my team", and certainly not "my company", or anything to the effect of those.

Yes, I'm assuming that, and I wrote why. His using the word "I" doesn't convince me of the opposit. Don't forget it's not the first time a Capcom employee does this.

That only proves people plural, not the whole company.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Why are people (fanboys) bad mouthing Capcom, what have they said wrong? If a game like Madwords struggles to 0.20 million and Fitness Coach 1 million I see nothing wrong with what Capcom said. Nothing is wrong with the userbase but most will not purchase M rated games.

So far in this thread a couple people have got really touchy about what a PR said and that too a correct statement, how very sad. Anyway Capcom is giving Wii MH3 so people should be happy.

Cherry picking...what about the REs that sold over a million?

I think someone in the thread said it already but, RE sells regardless of platform

Do people seriously believe that companies allow their PR reps to run around and shoot their mouths off during working hours, spouting things that might hurt the company unless this is the company's own stance?
Have any of you any idea how short the career of such a PR rep would be?
Capcom are not huge fans of the Wii and its ability to sell M rated games, get over it, its not the end of the world.

Ouch... But who can deny the facts with likes of Madworld... And all the crap SEGA got for it from the "conserned parents" GAWD I HATE THOSE PEOPLE!

Yes it is a risk as have been shown.

I don't get why everyone is an uproar.
The dude is just reflecting what the publishers believe and have seen so far for the Wii....

If hardcore games really had done that well on the Wii there woudn't be so much hanging on the success of the Conduit...

The only folks that strongly disagree are hardcore players that somehow bought a Wii and no other console and can't stand to face the truth...............

1 or 2 exception to what he says can't hide the truth.
HD consoles are vastly more successfull at selling M rated games than the Wii and that's all the dude is saying...

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

I don't know about you guys, but Capcom is one of my favorite companies. They got some great series: Megaman, Street Fighter, Resident Evil. They took chances publishing games like Okami and Viewtiful Joe from Clover.

On the Wii they've released some of the best games of the Console: Okami, RE IV and Zack & Wiki (even if two of those are ports, they're still great). And let's not forget about the Ace Attorney series for the DS.

In these economic times, it is a risk to release new IPs on any console. It's even a higher risk if it isn't attached to a well known license. Will spyborgs sell well on the Wii? Who could possibly tell?

I think some of you guys are taking what the capcom employee said way too personal. It's not like they're not releasing new games for the wii anyway.

Spyborgs doesn't look hardcore to me.

No more a risk than any platform before it or competing with it. Factor 5 had to close up shop because the risk they took didn't pay off.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

I am starting to like capcom. The nerd rage on this thread is priceless. Thanks capcom! :D
