Forums - Gaming Discussion - 360blog.org: Top 10 Best Game Controllers

I never said it was the 1st

I said it was the 1st to do it right

Where's the Sega Saturn control pad brigade?

How on gods green earth can some of these crappy pads be in the top 10 yet the Sega Saturn pad is nowhere to be seen?

sega saturn contoller was superior to the 3 buttog genesis controller and a revelation for playing 2D games.. period. No 'standard' controller has ever gotten a decent D-pad after this beauty.

Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is absurd.

owner of : atari 2600, commodore 64, NES,gameboy,atari lynx, genesis, saturn,neogeo,DC,PS2,GC,X360, Wii

5 THINGS I'd like to see before i knock out:

a. a AAA 3D sonic title

b. a nintendo developed game that has a "M rating"

c. redesgined PS controller

d. SEGA back in the console business

e. M$ out of the OS business

Hmmm.... I do not like this list.

#1 should be the DualShock 3 or Xbox360 controller. DS3 because it is a great layout with a built-in battery and 360 because it is one of the most comfortable controllers to play with.

Wavebird is a weird choice. The C-stick ruined all game cube controllers because there wasn't enough surface area.

I get why they put N64 up there, it was revolutionary but if revolutionary was important than NES (instead of honorable mention),Atari, and SNES should have been listed.

Sega Genesis 6 button was great in theory, 6 large face buttons should have been easier than 4 small buttons and two shoulders buttons for games... instead it made it almost impossible to have simultaneous button pushing. The 3 button does not belong on that list.

The Virtual Boy's lack of mobility actually makes it one of the least comfortable, which makes me think that they never used it.

For the Wii Remote, well, it's the Wii Remote. There's nothing really to compare it to.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Well, there are some my favourite controllers on that list. I just don't get why someone would put N64 controller on any list. That was absolute trash.

The 360 controller really is the best IMO

Lack on NiGHTS controller is disturbing. That may be the best controller ever made. It murders the Dreamcast/XBOX/360 (I consider them the same controller) controller and belongs on every gamers top ten controller list, if you ask me.

Also, I have always noticed the Nintendo 64 controller being so polarized by the community between love/hate. My input on that is this:

"The Nintendo 64 controller gave birth to FPS games getting legit run on consoles. Before it, the genre was considered to be a joke at best and the bulk of that was because there was no controller that could do the genre justice. With the Z-trigger and design of the Nintendo 64 controller, gamers were given a controller that was essentially a, 'poor man's' mouse and keyboard. When Turok came out, I remember people being blown away at how accessible the game was to play thanks in no small part to the controller and its design. For this reason, the controller belongs in my top ten. Any controller that gives a full genre of games legit run while NOT taking anything away from the genres that came before it shows a serious bout of versatility and evolution. No controller before it was as versatile and while it may be evolved over in many gamers minds, the controller deserves its place for what it has contributed to modern gaming."

mega drive controllers better than dual shock? ehm, riiight...

I agree somewhat with the list, except for DS2 at #10 and Wii-mote at #5. Both should be far above.
