They usually take six months.

| I like Bacon said: @zexen I'm sure the first 251 will only be obtainable before the national dex. (not counting trades probably) Just like Fire Red and Leaf Green. It had the first 151. When you got the national dex, you could get all 386. (not counting trades I think, I think you could trade national dex pokemon before you get it, but I never traded with the GBA games) |
Yeah, I was talking about that with Manuelf, I didn't remember how that worked in LG/FR. If they do that again, it'll be awesome, no new pokemons messing with my classic Pokemon Gold

Ok guys I have questions.
I have only played Yellow for Gameboy. I recently aquired Emerald for GBA, but havent played it. Does that come before or after G/S? Should I play it first?
Also, what are Fire Red and Leaf Green, and can I/is it worth, tracking them down in Australia?
Finally, should I buy Gold or Silver?
starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS
wow and i was getting mad at Activision for milking Guitar Hero nonstop. But now i remember that nintendo is so much worse!! I got so tired of pokemon after the origional gold and silver. Why would i pay another $30 to play the same game all over again???
Long Live SHIO!
Starcraft, heres the timeline:
Red/Blue/Yellow - Gold/Silver/Crystal - Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald - FireRed/LeafGreen (which are remakes of red/blue, and came out before emerald, but after ruby and sapphire) - Diamond/Pearl/Platinum
theres really no particular order you play them in, so go ahead and play emerald now. IMO, it is worth tracking down FireRed or LeafGreen. (try ebay)
As for gold or silver, they're essentially the same game, with a few pokemon exclusive to each game.
serebii.net is a very good resource for any/all things pokemon.

so here is the time line.
First Gen/ yellow,Green,Red,Blue
Second Gen/ Gold, Silver,Crystal
Third Gen/ ruby, Sapphire, Emerald
Fourth Gen/ Diamond, Pearl,Platinum
Leaf Green and Fire Red are GBA remakes of the First gen pokemon games. They came out after ruby and sapphire but before emerald. If you are wanting to play the First gen games, fire red and leaf green is deffinitly the route to take. They have everything from the originals plus much much more. (minus pikachu following you around in yellow version)
hello how are you.

Whoa buddy, Gold and Silver were the best! I can't believe you never played them..
Ruby and Saphire came out after Gold and Silver.... they were on the GBA while G/S were on the GBC. The chronological progression of the series means almost absolutely nothing to each game, but so far each release has been in chronological order.
Fire Red and Leaf Green are remakes of the original Red/Blue/(Green in Japan). They have added bonuses in the game that you can do after beating the Elite Four. Another cool thing is that after you beat the Elite Four the first time, they get way stronger and it's really fun to level up more and tackle the challange again. Whether or not they're worth tracking down depends on how much you like the original Pokemon game... and by judging by your recent posts and thread, I'd assume you should track these games down. :P
I liked Silver more than Gold, but if you want you can just wait for the remake to come out.

Wow thanks guys. I'm so torn for one main reason. If I play Emerald there will be a TONNE of Pokemon I dont know. Whereas if I wait and play the Gold or Silver remake there will be just a few I dont know and wont that make it easier to play Emerald?

starcraft: theres really not much too know about the pokemon, besides their type (so you know their weakness). you'll be waiting a while for the gold/silver remakes (like 6+ months after the japanese launch, will is probably at least 4 months away :/)
remember: the pokedex is your friend :D
