It depends on the game tbh... yeah I like cel shaded graphics to, but for me realistic graphics take the crown. No matter how well its done often the cartoonish look takes away some from the serious factor of a game :| I know that I will be in the minority here but thats what I bealive :P

I have a slight nagging sensation when trying to say whether one art style is fundamentally better than the other. Let me remind those who have turned this kind of argument into a type of HD vs wii battleground, that while a lot of wii games do use cartoon elements, there are also some realism games, and while a lot of HD console games do have elements of realism, the platforms are also spattered with many art styles from minimalist to hyper realism.

I also like cell-shading but I'm not sure if I prefer it over games with regular graphics or other different styles of graphics. Also i don't think cell-shading works for all genres I couldn't see it being used in a FPS. Although it was used in a car racing game before Auto Modellista I think that it will be a long time before we see another car racing game that uses cell-shading.

While thier will always be a place for realistic graphics (especially in games like GT5) I do prefer that my games have a degree of surrealism. Afterall I am playing to escape that ultimate realism called life.

I loved the look of Red Steel 2 and Prince of Persia. I do think there's too much realism in HD games. GTA is one game in particular I would prefer if they kept it slightly surreal (like GTA:CW). If GTA ever comes to the Wii I'd hope for the same style (much better graphics though obviously)

Of course cell shading doesn't fit all genres.I'd hate a WWE wrestling game with cel shading.It fits adventure(magical adventures more than it fits technologically advanced/war) games & anime games best in my opinion.This isn't a wii vs HD thread.We're just expressing our glee in how well cel-shading has been used in some games.I personally would prefer a realistic GTA to a cel shaded one.
Smash bros would have sucked with cel shading.

I love it, it's just impressive and much better than a realistic look according to me. Of course I aggree with those folks saying it fits just for some kind of game, that's for sure, but it's anyway incredibly good.

Cell shaded games are just timeless, "realistic" graphics get old after short time. stuff like okami and ww will always look incredible

Cel shading also fits RPGs very well but completely removes the horror from Survival horror games.For the genres I think it fits,I prefer Cel-shading.For other genres,I prefer realistic graphics.I tend to play more magical adventure games,anime games & RPGs than other genres so I guess I'm a bit more on the Cel shading side.Gears,Uncharted,Resident Evil 5 & MGS 4 level of graphics I love!
