Lack of new big games in japan in the last few month (unlike the west who get some good new wii-games). But that will change soon.

So if a trend which hasn't yet or may never manifest continues into next year, Wii sales will be down YOY...........ok sure.

Just look to the software, Nintendo's second quarter was nuts last year due to a couple of games that need no introduction.  Look for that quarter to be the third quarter this year.  So even IF, Nintendo is down YOY for the second quarter i am almost certain that it will be up YOY in the third.

You need to consider that last year, Wii got Brawl, Wii Fit and Mario Kart during these months, and despite this, Wii hardware sales this year are still up YoY. Don't cherry pick. Even if Wii sales were down YoY, it'd be very impressive considering no large game has been launched for a very long time, contrary to last year where three of the Top 5 best-selling titles on the system were released during this very time frame. Hardware is doing well, and if you think otherwise you're kidding yourself.

Wii is in a drought in terms of recent software releases so it is selling based on its cataogue of big hits. New hits will kick demand back up. The scary thing is Wii was in a drought in early 2007, and briefly dropped to something like 55,000 per week in March 2007 in the Americas. Wii has sold over 100,000 per week in the Americas in every week since February 2008 - a period of 14 months, about 60 weeks.

With Golden Week coming, Wii will be at 40k/45k the next two weeks in Japan.  Wii may dip a bit below 100k before Punch Out releases in Others and the Americas, but it should jump back up when it releases. Mothers Day, Fathers Day, and graduation weeks (June) all provide boosts for hardware.

The next ~6 weeks could easily be quiet though. After that WSR and M+ should provide longer lasting boosts

I figure Wii Sports Resort can kick Wii up to 50k+ for a few weeks, and since June is always a good month compared to May in the Americas, Wii should be ~flattish in June worldwide despite being down in April/May

There arent just big blockbusters comming out yet. As Mr. Iwata said before, software sells hardware (well somewhere in thoes lines) but with games like The Conduit, Punch Out!!, Wii Motion+PLus and other third party games that using it it should drive sales. One other possible game that might make a splash is Sin and Punishment 2 but im not puting money on that game yet.

Wait till punch out,the conduit and sin and punishment are release they´ll make a difference.

The only one of them i can see selling well would be Punch Out.

And thats only if its marketted well.
